  • Synpase Synchronic BOV

    Hey guys,

Does anybody run the Synapse Synchronic BOV? I really want to purchase it for my RB20DET but i don't know which adapter flange to buy for it. Is it the SB001.3a Greddy type r/s/rs and HKS racing flange or will the SB001.7a on for the Mitsubishi work. I am trying to bolt it on where the factory re-circulating valve goes. Also if anyone has this set up which boost only source line did you guys use?

    Thanks

    Paul

Port C (boost source) is now done internally with the latest release / revision of the Synapse BOV. You'll need the Mitsubishi flange, part no SB001.7a and the Synapse boost connect kit, part no SBC06KITBLKLT (black hose, etc looks better). Then some extra parts (not from Synapse) that need to be bought to make it a bolt on BOV.

        Thanks Again for the help

Synapse said on their forum that they stopped distributing the older BOV to dealers, so they could send out the new version of BOV with internal boost source / feed (just like factory BOV). I noticed they stopped selling BOV on their website as well.

How you tell it's the latest version, is Port C is blocked off with a screw that looks similar to flange screws (Port C is located on side of BOV). Port A+B are on the back of BOV. Both Port A+B are vacuum source and connect to factory BOV vacuum hose with Y fitting in Boost Connect Kit.

With Boost Connect Kit hose being 6mm on outside, Boost Connect Kit hose (from Y connector) can slide into 6mm ID factory vacuum hose that goes to factory BOV and you use the factory clamp to hold them together. That's the way Synapse show how to install it. But I've done it a different way on my car.

All you need after that is a 1.25" recirc hose, which is 45 degree. A hose store like NAPA? should sell them.

Ahh i see that make more sense. Didn't port c make the BOV that much better? Why did they get rid of it? Hoe did you hook it up on your car?

Port C is still there, but I gather they drilled a hole inside BOV to make it internal and capped the hole on side of BOV. External Port C with fitting meant you could place a boss fitting for fitting, hose for boost source / feed anywhere on intake piping. But I gather from what they have said, external Port C caused alot of problems for people trying to find a place for good boost source, so they decided to make it internal like factory BOV.

If you look at bottom of factory BOV, there's a little hole next to main valve. That's the boost feed hole (like Port C on Synapse BOV) that makes BOV release properly at lower boost levels. But being a push type BOV (Synapse is a pull type BOV, so boost holds valve inside BOV closed), it made stock BOV leak after 10psi as valve was pushed open by boost.

On my car, similar way. But I used fittings instead of sticking 4mm ID hose (6mm on the outside diameter) into stock 6mm ID hose to make sure it won't fallout. But either way should work, as it seems they have used that sticking into hose technique on alot of the cars they have fitted their BOV to.

Ahh okay that makes sense. So you have the old version? With the new one i would only have to connect port A+B and thats it correct?

I have the revised BOV, just before they decided to do another revision to switch to internal boost feed. I can get my Synapse BOV modified to internal, but have to send it back to them.

Only A+B and the recirc hose / coupler.

Oh, about the new BOV and port C. I read that they removed the screw and don't have port C hole on the side of BOV.
