  • Heat wrapping for exhaust?

Hey guys, I'm wondering if it would be beneficial to wrap the OEM RB20 turbo manifold and downpipe. Thoughts? Any additional precautions that should be taken when wrapping exhaust?

Also, is picking an exhaust wrap something that needs to be thought out? I was just going to pick one out of the JEGS catalog.

I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

If stock heat shield is there, don't need to. With enough heat exhaust manifold can burn exhaust wrap, even on aftermarket exhaust manifold.

GTS-R with equal length exhaust manifold has a moulded bolt on heat shield (looks nicer), just like stock GTS exhaust manifold -

I was told with heat wrap on exhaust, it shifts heat along exhaust (towards fueltank). One person I knew with a turbocharged Civic wrapped the whole exhaust from front to rear.

Just heat wrapped front pipe on my car and added 1x intake hose clamp on each end to hold it on. Similar to what factory do with what looked like epestos?? or similar, metal heat shielding. Keeps heat away from gearbox.
