how long will the mirror polish last? will it dull out over time?

I find this finish can be surpriginaly very durable.

Some choose to clear coat it, but you would have to 'finish' the clear coat layer again to get a nice look of clarity.

I find the bare, polished-to-perfection finish of the aluminum parts makes it look amazing and pretty much chrome-like.

It won't so much as dull, but it may oxidize over LONG periods of time. If you were willing to microfibre towel wipe the polished bits down gently with basically one swipe every time you do an oil change for instance, will pretty much keep it looking great in the long term.
