This is on the back of my glovebox, the string comes round the back and into the inside. Spoke with a few dudes who have the same cars as me and we are stumped!

the string goes across to hold maps/papers etc should attach somewhere on the other side, no idea what the white thing is
or if its part of thatundersteer -is when you go off the road and see the tree that kills you
oversteer-is when you go off the road backwards and dont see the tree that kills you -

Yeah the black string connects to the first piece and then that small string connect from the spring thing to the smaller white piece.Comment

No way! Spring Loaded! Time to fix my glovebox.
I too have the black string thats limp but still in correct place. I figured it was a paper holder/retainer.
