  • idle issue...

i recently put a HKS SSQV III on my car, front mount, bigger turbo etc. its full atmospheric. the car wont stay idling. i think its because of the bov being atmospheric. now... by putting it back to recirc it should work.... but is there any way to keep it full amospheric and work (stay idling)? let me know! Does the z32 maf fix this?

your info is greatly appreciated! thank you

You need to use a map sensor not a maf

why exactly does he need a map sensor? i have an atmospheric bov that came with the car, and mine idles fine. its actually the same bov this guy is using

a maf(mass air flow) system uses a small wire as a hot wire system so it only knows how much air has gone by the wire and cannot tell if there is say a vaccume leak such as blow off valve and stalls due to over fueling. but a map sensor (manifold absolute pressure) takes the pressure off the manifold to tell if a vaccume leak has occured so it drops the fuel and stays running. The odd motor stays running and the rest stall its an oddity on rbs ive found. Mine will not run with a bov but most of my friends will. Could also be caused by a weak spring in bov if it is leaking at idle. I fixed the leak on mine and still couldnt get it to stay running at idle. To install a map sensor you need to buy or switch your current set up over to a different ecu that uses a map sensor such as apexi d-jetro.

BOV is supposed to be fully closed at idle, so recirc or atmospheric it shouldn't matter and the car should be able to idle correctly.

It's when you let off the throttle right after boosting that the car will die down with an atmospheric BOV.

Depends on the issues the OP is actually getting. From his post it's not too clear. Does it not idle only after boosting only or does it not idle at all?
