  • help with suspension set up

hey everyone, im looking at getting an alignment shop to adjust all the suspension on my car. all the suspension parts in my car are aftermarket (car came with) i was told that there was 5 degrees negative camber in front, 3 degrees in back. also told the caster in front was as far back as it would go to help it steer guy said "think of the front wheels of shopping cart" and not sure about toe.

so my question is whats a good set up for aggressive street driving and track?
currently it drives like a ******* go kart and i kinda want to keep it that way, but i need an alignment anyways so i wanna get the whole set up checked over.

i was told a good set up would be:
Camber: -2.5 in front -2 in back
Caster: 5.5 towards the front of the car
Toe: 0 degrees both front and back

im happy with the height and i can adjust the stiffness of coil overs on my own.
just wondering if anyone has used different set ups and how it rides ect.

I went with the extremes of the stock settings. Car grips like mad and tires wear perfectly. I do track the car with success so it does work.

i cant personally tell how agressive it will be but on my r33 the rear camber i put at a mild -1 degree, just because they were at about -2.6 and chewed the tires off in like 2 months (just street driving), this year im gonna go to -1.25 ish and see if its better
front camber right now is at -2.4 i think and have some wear but not as bad. i would go maybe -2 degrees and see
I cant remember my caster or toe right now but i just put them within spec.
your caster should be positive (meaning towards back of car), i would probably try +6 degrees and see.. r32 gtst spec is 6.3 degrees +/- .45 degrees

hope this helps some... good luck

oh and here is a link to r32 gtst alignment specs if you need them

why should the caster be towards the back of the car? i was told towards the front is a lot better. same angle as say a motorcycle front wheel

motorcylce have positive caster. which means top of strut its towards the rear and bottow is forward. i think we are just measuring off differente reference points. i dont really know of any cars that run a negative caster... if it were setup negative (like a shopping cart, the car would wander all over the place lol) if you getting it aligned at a shop they will automatically set the caster to positive (i least i would hope so...)
