what is your opinion on screamer pipes..? I have a heard alot of people bash them and say the hold back and make your car even run poorly.
Just more out of curiosity.
What Jon said, if its your Daily I say plumb it back. My car see more of the track then the street and I prefer the scream at 7500rpm off the bank walls
I daily drive my sedan with screamer. I have no carpets or sound deadening and theirs even like 2 1/2" plug holes in the ground so it's louder then a full interior skyline but I love it, gives it a race car feel for me. But their not really expensive, it's not loud till turbo reaches full boost really. So about 4000rpm is like LOUD till you left of. But it's fun I think. But each their own, I'm one of those guys who likes everything a bit over the top.
But I do like it. It does have a "exhaust leak" sound from the waste gate door not being perfectly shut, so just idling you hear it a bit but it sounds more "mean".
I dunno. Depends what you want. You could always fun it for 1 summer then change it up.
I love my screamer pipe, gives it the aggressive sound on full boost
Does get annoying sometimes, feel like I'm bothering people with it
But it does keep me from gettin into full boost in the suburbs
Sounds like Godzilla tho

I think mine sounds like ass. It's more of an angry hiss than a roar. Drowns out everything else in the process. It's huge too, most likely 50 or 60mm so its not a size issue. As far as performance goes, it all depends on how big your exhaust is. If its on the small side then it will give you a performance boost. It will by-pass quite a bit of exhaust flow relieving the bottleneck in your exhaust.
I will be plumbing mine back in, but that's a personal choice. Performance won't suffer either because I'm changing the whole thing and doing 4" with a gate valve and a by-pass. Gate closed, all exhaust goes through the 2" by-pass with a muffler, gate open, 4" 8000rpm straight through goodness.
Jon.
Why don't you come over to MySpace and Twitter my Yahoo untill I Google all over your Facebook.

Similar to what I'm gonna do
I have a 4" exhaust, straight pipe from the turbo back
I am going to get an exhaust cut out off the down pipe so I can run a side pipe
Plumb my wastegste back in so around town it's nothin but turbo spool and whistle
Flip the switch, side pipe open exhaust

and Jon, get your screamer pipe smaller diameter, probly sound better. mines only about an inch, also makes it louder. but maybe its to small for the power your running, needing to get that flow for all that POWER!!
But i love it on my daily. i'll have to post a video for those who are curious.

My rb20 with external gate. Sounds pretty good but it gets tiring after a while. The only good thing about them is if you time it right you can scare the living **** out of peopl on the side of the road haha
