  • gts sedan and coupe A pillar

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the a pillar for sedans and coupes?

I picked up an A pillar gauge pod for my sedan and it's just not quite the right shape. It's very close

On a side note, A pillar's are typically attached to existing OEM a pillar correct?

The angle of A pillar is different between 2 door, 4 door R32. Also if you look at roof angle towards front window, you'll notice on 4 door it's flat (to take into account front passenger entering, exiting car without hitting head on roof) and on 2 door it angles downwards.

I wouldn't use A pillar gauge pods, as they affect vision and close to source of water on rainy days when window is down (water + electricity). Place gauges on centre console side of dash surround (low enough so doesn't affect vision), above centre aircon vent.

Some drill holes and mount them in dash infront of front passenger.

The A pillar trim on Skyline is clipped in place. You remove it by pulling off grey looking (from memory)? rubber trim that goes around doorway and meets up with kick plate in bottom of doorway (you'll see what I mean when look at car), then sit with feet, legs out of car while sitting on drivers seat and hands where clips are and lean back while pulling to pull trim off at near top back of doorway, then carefully pull the rest of trim off (where clips are) towards dash. You then attach A pillar gauge pod to trim, fit gauges, wiring, etc and feed wiring inbetween dash, chassis and put trim back in place and do the other wiring under dash (remove bottom of dash).

Well I wish I would have known that before purchasing the peice. Guess ill have to keep my eye out for one compatible with 4 door. I'd like to stay with the a pillar pod because I prefer the look, but thanks for the suggestion sky.

You're welcome. You would need to look at both cars to notice the difference.

Just it was harder to see traffic from side roads on right side and people who inspected car suggested to move them away from line of vision (could have failed safety inspection). Just trying to help you avoid my mistake.

The guy I bought it from was using it in a 2 door gts so it's obviously right pillar. Of anyone has a 4 door is be willin to trade for mine (I converted it from 60mm to 52mm, can't even see was changed) I'd even pay for shipping both ways!

Does anyone have a suggestion on getting this to fit via mods...? Cutting the top/bottom and use it as if it was universal? I don't know an alternative, and no one has A pillars for sedans.

Going to take a peak on it i nthe morning and do some work on my car. I'll grab some pictures, also considering just making a rectangle plate, wrapping it in CF cloth, and mounting the gauges in there underneath my deck.

But can buy this Attain gauge pod to centrally mount the gauges -

I decided to mount the gauges underneath my deck in my center console.

Still trying to figure out what exactly I should use to mount it, and how I should mount it...

Thanks for the suggestion Skym, I just want a flush non-rigged look for the A pillar. Since I can't have it, I'm detterring from it.
