  • Blown up turbo

Anyone ever see a turbo do this. It was a vg30det unit. I suspect it was caused by a hot shut down, and water lines were not hooked up to it.
It's a friends car, lucky it didn't take the motor with it.

Off balance exhaust wheel due to failed bearings on exhaust side of turbo (commonly happens on intake side of Skyline turbo). Can be caused by high oiltemps on shutdown causing coking / deposits that blocks oilways to bearings inside turbo or oil overheated and got too thin. Exhaust wheel usually ends up in middle of exhaust on Skylines, if it snaps the shaft.
