it's just for break-in of the bottom end. next winter the top end goes insane in the membrane.

i'm also planning a 850-1000hp big block camaro build for the near future, i'm not much for low power lol.
I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

      Need Help Guys

Okay guys, I've got a $hitty decision to make. I've ordered a couple sets of ARP mains studs and none of them so far fit.

I was planning on drifting my car starting this summer, it'll probably be pushing 300-350 hp at the time. Is it safe to do this on the stock mains bolts?

Who here has used ARP mains studs on an RB20DET, where'd you get them and did you have any problems fitting?

The center unthreaded part of the studs is too long, the shoulder on either side of it stops it from going any farther into the block so cutting isn't an option. the shoulder on the top side sticks out past the crank saddle and even past the washer, so the nut won't screw all the way down.

      Here's what I'm working with:

okays, short block is back from the machine shop. some small updates.
experimented with color combos on the exhaust manifold, black base with a coat of silver base over the top came out like this

spruced up a couple parts that go on the block

got the block painted to match the valve covers, strut bar and timing belt cover, it's not as shiny as the flash makes it look. it's the same as the other stuff

and i dont for any reason condone using 2 wrenches as washers to put the engine on a stand.

              thanks guys!
yeah, that's the final coat of paint on the block. i did one side at a time, that's that side finished. the other side needs one last coat to make it darker but it's time for work so i had to quit there.
i think it'll look great matching all the other bits of blue in the engine bay.
i'm hoping i'll have enough time this weekend to get the whole short block put together, i've got work both days but about 8 hours of free time between the 2

HAHA. Yeah good luck with getting it all together. I ran into a good number of things and I really took my time with everything so it took me a lot more hours then I figured it would. I had to file out my pistons so my new rings could move freely when installed. I dont know why they were so snug but they wouldnt even spin at all when installed. Also the retarded pilot bushing tool for "imports" didnt have the right sized guides so I had to rig up some red neck style tools to get the old one out and the new one in

                GL Manny!

I went and picked up a multi purpose clutch alignment tool that was supposed to work with nissans, says canadian tire. It was the powerbuilt one I think.
Had a new throw out bearing and pilot bushing anyways so I wanted to install them. My old bushing wasnt mint condition but neither is the new one I installed since I didnt have the right tool lol!

i'd like to throw in a new pilot bushing, but i'm not sure where the hell i'd even find one. i dont care about the throw out bearing, my tranny is crap and needs to be replaced anyway.

so did the universal nissan clutch tool work out well?

No, it was a USDM and Japanese clutch alignment tool with about 6 different sizes. Needless to say, they left some out and Skylines and 240s we in the left out column. There was one too big and one too small but not the right one. Stay away from canadian tire if your looking for the right clutch alignment tool.

Ill look tomorrow to see if I can get the P/N from the wrapper mine came from. Im pretty sure its just sitting on top of the crap pile beside the bench
