  • ok ive been thinking lately

With all the upgrades my car has, to the engine most importantly, whats the next thing thats holding my car back.

it feels like it has more power, it just needs to be unleashed.

now i believe my injectors right now are stock (200cc or 250cc) and i think if i bump it up to 400-500 cc my engine wouldn't be starving for fuel so badly.

People are there with the knowledge, can you give me some insight

    • with my lack of engine knowledge, i do know that upgrading the injectors is a must.

another thing that will help build power is stickers, each one adds 5 at the crank, so get goin!

RB25 stock injectors are 370cc and you will have a really really hard time maxing those on a stock turbo. You'd need 315+whp to run out of fuel.

I see your car has a power FC, where was that tuned? Is it even tuned? I'm sure you have read it before but a proper tune is crucial to getting the most out of your mods.

What is your current boost level?

New BKR7E plugs could always help.

o in that case thats easy just get a z32 maf $100 or so from 4xtoys and get anywhere from 440-550cc injectors and a boost contoller and your car should rip

Well its the the rb25 neo turbo,

I am pretty sure the power fc is just a base line tune.

i don't really know where to go for a tune in the lethbridge, calgary area.

the previous owner told me that the car was tuned so when it was starving for fuel, the check engine light would flash. that happens around 6000 rpm in any gear.

now previous to this car i has another gts, with rb20 with like fmic and air intake, and it seems like it would rip just as hard, maybe a little less.

i do have a boost controller, AEM Tru boost,

any recommendations as what i should put my settings too

                • I'm willing to bet it is the tune. Most base maps on standalones usually are good for crusing around town but suck as soon as you put your foot down. Do you have laptop capabilities with your PowerFC? If you can show me your maps I can maybe guide you a bit.

What boost level are you running?

And "starving of fuel" is a very general term. The light could come on when injector duty cycle reaches over 80% and even then, 80% in the grand scheme of things isn't bad. Here is some math. 370cc injectors are good for 370 crank hp at 100% duty cycle. Loose 15% to drivetrain and thats a 55 hp loss. So you can make 315whp max on those injectors.

I took my Rb25 to the dyno last year and with similar mods I made 275whp. Around 87% duty cycle there. I think injectors isn't your issue but the tune. Which would make sense your light comes on at 6k rpm which is probably right when you pass the 80% mark on the injectors.

                  • I really don't know how to work the Tru boost controller.

it hasn't gone over 11 psi.

i have the spring pressure set between 2.5 and 5 and the duty cycle around 50 percent.

what specifically are you looking for from the power fc? i don't know how to tell if its compatible with a laptop. i have the power fc commander though.

thanks for all the help dude. i really appreciate it

                    • Well if you could give me a few values from the maps for timing that you pass through as you do a pull, that could give me somewhat of an indication.

11psi is fine. I'd leave it be.

Do you have a wideband? If you do what AFR's are you hitting?

                              • Ok. So i went to get a tune from Geoff Peterson here in town. He gets everything setup and he checks my current "tune" out. Sure as ****, there is no tune. Nothing. The power fc was bought, installed and that was it. well thats just great.

so he did what he could. we did some big pulls on the highway. he changed a few things but he couldn't do much cause my injectors were maxing out at 5800 rpm. So he tuned it from 2800-5800 rpm on WOT.

once i get bigger injectors and a z32 maf i will be going back to Geoff and getting a full tune to really see what i got for a car.

the thing that is getting me right now is i have a AEM tru boost controller and i have no idea what the **** means, so if ANYONE can shed some light that would be great.

I know that duty cycle is how long is running for at a time, but i really don't know where to set the spring pressure at. This seems to be a really important thing to have set right because it will determine when the turbo starts to boost. I still don't know how to set the duty cycle to get the best out of my car tho
