  • JohnnyJohnny's R33 GTS-T build

    Good Day!

Just purchased a '93 GTS-T, which should be through it's final hurdles today to get plated, insured and on the road. Safety passed, Drive Clean test passed, insurance sorted (with Facility - ugh). Let's hope I don't have problems with MTO.

The only pic I have so far of the car:

It's KN6 Dark Grey Pearl, and the paint is in very good condition. Some dings here and there, but overall in good condition. It's been too cold around here (Oakville ON) to really have a look around the car, and my puny garage is still filled with my previous project.

Have the usual ideas for initial mods, along with a bunch from previous projects, namely adding lightness, but nothing down on paper yet. Car is going to be used for DD + HPDE.

Guess I should contribute to my own thread.

New shoes - Volk GTP 17x8/9 rims with Nitto 555s. GTR wing should be on it's way from Japan shortly.

          Mid-April update

Just came home from getting Siouxsie dyno'ed at Tag Racecraft in Oakville, and it averaged 213hp and 196ft-lbs, which is just about exactly where it should be in factory stock form. Good place to start.

As I'm starting Solo Sprint this summer as of July 4, I need to focus on safety, maintenance, handling and weight reduction changes rather than motor mods. Not quite so sexy, but necessary. Well, I'd argue that handling is sexy, coming from the 944 world. And weight reduction is like free HP, so....

My transmission is a little hard to get into lower gears once it's warmed up. No grinding or slipping, just difficult to get it engaged. I need to flush and bleed the clutch, and maybe replace the slave cylinder with a Nismo unit. From what I've read it's *probably* not a synchro or clutch issue. I really hope this is the case.

            Spring 2011 Update.

            New work performed:

            - custom, blacked-out FMIC with IC core built by Four Star Motorsports
            - Electric rad fan and temperature controller
            - modified front bumper to provide more air to FMIC
            - KGmm lowering springs on the way.

            Oh yeah, new artwork, too

You have big kahunas going with the art but I personally like it. The wing is a great improvement over stock.

It's a fiberglass replica I bought from M13 here. No 3rd brake light, so I installed an aftermarket one from CDC designed for a 05-09 Mustang with a ducktail spoiler.
