man looking good, in that one picture i seem to be moving really fast but it seems my car is still on jacks... stoked you got the IC centered looks alot better. we need to make some clips for those lips soon id rather not having mine taking flight on me again. about the meet Street Machine sounds sick we could do my place and then go out early and take over a parking lot on mayer.

RWD I just took the covers and the coil pack plate off, gave them a very light sanding and washed them with soap. Used VHT wrinkle black paint made specifically for valve covers. I picked it up at CEP Auto. Think it was like 15 bucks for a can (you only need one). To get the wrinkle effect you just apply three coats of the paint then heat it. I used a blow torch and stood a good distance away from the covers to heat them evenly but ideally you should use an oven. Problem is you need to use an old oven because the paint will ruin it for cooking food in. Unless you like the taste of chemicals...

I also spent some time mocking up my GTR bumper before paint. Threw the lip on with some zip-ties for reference. My major issue was trying to center the IC core with the hole in the bumper. Ended up needed to re-cut larger holes in my wheel well for the IC piping but I think it will look pretty good when its done!!
Note that my hood lip is still not sitting perfect. The 3M double sided tape keeps pulling up on one side so its a little funny looking right now. Im thinking of using something more permanent soon

Centered IC...

I also forgot to mention earlier in the thread that I painted my valve covers this winter. Wrinkle black.

Thats it for now! Just have to sit around waiting for paint now. I will post more pics when its all done and washed upLast edited by Boot; 04-12-2011, 06:48 PM.

Update!
Got the tail lights out and the bezels removed! Its kind of a pita job because of the black gunky sealant Nissan used to seal in the lights. I found this thread somewhat useful when it came to removing the lights. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/for...y-tail-lights/
Anyhow, pics...

Cars back on the road! Its not much but I think its got a bit more jam after installing the FMIC. Or maybe it just feels faster after driving my slow ass 4runner all winter! haha Only issue is it backfires like a beast when I shift up between 1-2 and 2-3! haha We'l see what it does once I get some fresh premium in the tank.
Finished sanding the mirrors and front bumper so the plan is to remove the tail lights tonight so I can get everything painted by the end of the week. Unfortunately that means it will be parked until paint is done. However that should give me some time to install my sketchy MBC and a boost gauge (which I still need to buy).
I'll try get more pics up once I get some timeLast edited by Boot; 04-11-2011, 02:50 PM.

Ya i think the plan is to find a plug for the nipple I already threaded on there. Shouldnt be very difficult to find at a hardware/auto parts store.Originally posted by Skym View PostI see. Weld a 1/8 thread steel boss fitting over the top of hole and plug the hole on boss fitting with a 1/8 thread screw in cap.

Turbo is now on! Feels great getting the car back on the ground and off the jacks. Had to use a metric bolt since I couldnt find any metric studs that were the right size. Slowly but surely the car is almost street worthy
Just have to paint the bumper and mirrors and install the boost controller.
Here is how the car sits currently

Hopefully I can get all my exterior pieces to the body shop by next weekend and have the car back on the road the following weekend

Thanks guys! No worries about thread jacking but ya, not a bad idea to start a meet thread at some point.
Sorry for the lack of pics/updates. Things have been busy with school lately. But the plan is to make some progress on getting the turbo back in tonight. Ive also been sanding my bumper in my spare time.

The mirrors are next.

As you can see in the pics, the paint is chipping quite badly and my tail light bezels are even worse.
I also need to find a manual boost gauge so I can get my sketchy DIY MBC installed...

Still need to find a way to plug the hole i drilled and tapped in my IC piping for the rb25 wastegate/turbo fiasco.
More to come in the next few days/weeks...Last edited by Boot; 04-01-2011, 05:01 PM.
