so i finally got these damn things on. wasn't easy. Had no help, instructions, and i was on a time crunch.. :headchop:
so here we go. it's the patient.
and heres the plan of action.
the coils look sturdy. But then again this is my very first set so wtf do i know?? The fronts weren't hard to do/adjust. the backs i have to remove to spin the bottom part for height adjustment. Luckily i got the rears dead even on the first try.
heres the front oem units. They were heavy as ****
the front coils were way lighter. So this takes off my lbs bottom line of the car also..
so for reference i lined up my dinosaur oem units and the coils. the stockers really were gone.
and heres the rears
the lip on the rears was kinda longer. so i pionted them facing the tires. Hopefully this made no difference on things..
So i got the fronts installed first. looks like a good fit.
installation is easy and dosen't take rocket science hence why i didn't do a walkthrough like that.
But measurements were crucial, even though i still didn't know what i was doing.. Just wanted a length from the bottom of the fender to the ground..
and after some trial and error i think i got it. last i checked my rears were at
25 and a half.. and i got the fronts lower than that.(on friday afternoon before alignment)
heres pics of the car when i first put them on.(thursday night)
So i went to tires plus friday and got it aligned. Which you need to do anythime you eff with suspension components. and heres the before on the top and the after on the bottom..
looks like they did an effing great job. so tire wear shouldnt be an issue. and i am at a lowerd height where iam happy at. Yeah my bumper lip scrapes more now.But i corner better.
So i didn't have time to set this dampening knobs. But there is some moderate bounce. Iam okay with it(for now). But so far the coils kick ass..
well like i thought my turbo seal went out finally(on the coldside) so it's time for me to put this damn hx on. i want to do a rebuild on it. but the "lazy monsters' won't allow me.)
and after this i really need to get on this. DID some runs in wisconsin last month and the stocker turbo finally went.
Well tonight I sucked. Lost the 1st 3 races(couldn't get in my powerband) then at 100mph blew a turbo hose. But think I blew a turbo seal. So its misfiring now. Not sure if the plugs are fouled out because of oil or running too rich.$ will find out tommrow. Stay tuned. (In before coolstory bro).
well found out the culprit. apparently i need a tune if i ever move up here...
from #1 cylinder.
#6 totally melted the tip. Wow. well stuck some copper v-power plugs and runs normal. But afr is still 13.5 (wtf). got to get some reg fuel and lean out my mix for a bit. compressor seal still hates me at 14psi. But car is running fine otherwise.
id come out tonight but going to jefferson raceway tomorrow for some cone action. But i will be back in a few weeks for some more street action!!!
so heres the hx30 wheel. I need to fabb up some manifold majic to make this fit. But it is doable. the feed line is a weird m12x 1.5 thread(still kinda loose even with that size). I think i ordered the right egay feed line kit this time so i need to come up with the coin to get the t3 flanges welded on the exhaust manifold(apparently i need x2).
SO AS of right now my car is running more lean nowadays. not sure if it's because my battery needs to be replaced, my turbo is leaking oil in the intake(i hear that a leaky seal turbo will cause the car to run lean).
or maybe since it's hotter than balls the walbro(which i also hear dosen't like hot temps). is acting up.
But at any rate i came uppon this and couldn't say no..
so the minds at china have finally come up with a sudo-cheapo alternative to the $500+ front facing plenum solution.
Called up godspeed a few times and talked to ken about this. apparently it will clear a s13 hood. and the plenum is made for the stock rb20 throttle body. if you want to run the q45 you need an adapter plate..
so iam on board. I picked up one this week.
iam going to recirc my bov on the hotside for easy access..

One thing I hope works out for you is the internally gated HX turbo. I have HE351CW
(model replacing the HX35), and I know when I did my research, one thing stood out.
The waste gate has problem holding low boost, causing boost creep. I'm not to
concern since I'm aiming for about 20 psi with meth, has a security measure.
But be really careful if your only going for 8,10 or even 12 psi.
no iam going to try to curve it at 15psi. did you have a boost controller?? and if you did was it electronic??
Haven't run the engine yet, it's in my 95 240sx with R33 front end, but swapping it to my girlfriend's 95 240sx. lol Already did the suspension and brake on her car, and my 240sx is already stripped out, to get a full roll cage, then cut the floor, and put new sheets metal, and firewall modification depending on the engine choice ( It's going to be a V8, just not totally sure which one yet).
Right now I have a Power FC with boost controller hardware, but trying to find money to maybe sell it and go with the Haltech Pro since that's also the one I want in my GTR.
I wasn't expecting to have any problem since the worst boost creap I heard of was 18psi, and after a little porting of the waste gate opening it dropped to around 15psi. Can't remember on what car it was, probably a DSM. I imagine you should be alright at 15 psi, but I would still keep my eye on that boost gauge just in case.
so haven't updated for a while. i did snag that intake plenum. installed it, didn't get it hosed up right so i removed it and put the stocker back on for the moment. i will come back to the plenum last...
so been busy with this (not so) excellent adventure to get this hx trubo finally bolted on.
my stock turbo was oil and water cooled. so i blocked off the water bolt going to the block. and i recirced a y assembly in the back of the engine block.
But, first i got the exhaust manifold off.. the gasket had pretty much had it. But the ports weren't cracked so this bad boy was reused..
and mani removed from the block
and heres a compaRO of the stocker..
so after running Around town, i couldn't find a oil feed line with a banjo on each end. so i had to use the oem unit. was careful not to overly bend and kink this damn thing..
the coolant line on the side of the block was a pain. i had to go to ace hardware and find a bolt to plug it up.(after spilling most of the damn rad coolant.
so it's now on to the main attraction.i have a guy at a local dealership that does all my welding and he knows his ****. super cheap and good welds.
i was very very pleased with the welding job and the fact that this cost me almost peanuts i can't beat it with a 12 inch weiner..
so it's time to bolt this bad boy. after a trip to autozone for some curved hose for the oil drain. i mount this. keep in mind i brought a oil hose kit from egay with the banjo bolt that i needed for the hx.
so my next problem was getting a downpipe together..
crunched for time because of work and whatnot this dragged out a few days.
originally i got one made. but missed the flange for the rest of the exhaust by a few inches. so i drove around a few days with an open dp. loud as ****, but i did cound like a cummings truck..
so i finally got time i parked my car by my weld guy. and i carefully test fitted, while he welded the bend i needed for final clearance..
and finally some header wrap to keep the temps down.
sounds like a jet now. had to upgrade to pretty much all t clamps as ringworms don't like 15+psi.
well after i had some vacuam leaks since i didn't recirc my bov. since then i have fixed these things and the thing runs great.
had to use my 1jz ic pipe for this also.
so now pretty much iam done engine wise. just have to install my injectors/afm and have it tuned. and re attempt to install my intake plenum. want to keep the bottom end and not get so crazy.
