  • Revox's R32 Project

Hey guys, so I've had that car since christmas of 2010 and now that I'm finished up getting it running smoothly, I can finally have time to make a build thread. I've always want a skyline since middle school and I finally got the chance to own one so I jumped all over the opportunity after owning quite a few hondas. When I first got it it came with a Nistune ecu, front mount intercooler, electric fan, splitfire coil packs, turbosmart boost controller, walboro 255 fuel pump, hicas lock bar, tein HA coilovers, GTR wheels, and GTR front end, minus fenders. It had a decent list of mods for a starting platform but unfortunately it had more problems that I originally anticipated. The cooling system was disgusting and had a few leaks, coilovers were blown, power steering was leaking, hicas wasn't properly removed and the hicas computer was missing, etc.

Heres some pics of when I first got it:

After flushing the cooling system a few times to clean it up and fixing the external coolant leaks the coolant was burning up and making its way out the exhaust so the head gasket was done. I was fresh out of high school and in school for 1st year automotive tech when I got the car so I had to limp it a long until I finished school. Luckily after I finished school I got a apprenticeship at a awesome shop working with 2 other journeyman mechanics I previously knew from delivering them parts working for lordco. Now that I finally had some money coming and a shop with all the tools I needed, it was time to do the head gasket. I got a OEM gasket kit, ARP head studs, new timing belt, new water pump, new tensioner, and new idler pulley.

    How it started:

Head was resurfaced and had excellent test results. Time to go back together.

I bought a few things for the car along the way like a 3.5" Fujitsubo cat back I got from a local wrecker for $100 because they had no idea how much they're worth haha, a set of 17x9 +24 motegi touge wheels, tein super street coilovers, work lug nuts, z32 maf (not installed) and a new set of deatschwerks 550cc injectors I just got last week. Hopefully I will be able to get it tuned next weekend after I install the injectors and maf. I also just ordered 4x 15mm wheel spacers and a rear camber kit so it'll sit really flush soon.

I also removed the rest of the hicas components and bought a hicas ecu.

I got it dyno'd just for fun after I fixed the head gasket to see where its at and it made 195whp and 190 ft.lbs/tq @ 10psi with leaky stock injectors and a really rich tune from a previous owner. Stoked to see how much its gonna make with the new injectors and maf.

Couple shots infront of my shop.

Thanks guys. The next thing to do is to replace the right rear wheel bearing and a front lower ball joint. I'll install the deatschwerks injectors and z32 maf next week before it gets tuned. I just ordered four 15mm wheel spacers and rear camber kit so when ever they get here I'll install those and do a custom alignment at work. After that I'm gonna start picking away at the suspension.

It may be, not sure who else owned it other than the guy I got it off of.

Thanks, unfortunate yours isn't moving on its own!

Yup, thats the one, right by the huge parking lots.

Car looks good man, really coming together nicely. Retune should give you some decent numbers with part list.
Traction is optional, so are zipties

haha yeah... almost 4 years in the making...

Looks like you picked a great place to work! Back in the day when I drove parts for lordco, I would constantly be sent out a few minutes before closing to to deliver all sorts of stuff to a bunch of guys that seemed like they never stopped tuning and upgrading their own cars.

Where abouts are you located in Victoria??

I got my wheel spacers and rear camber kit in the mail today, but didn't install the camber kit yet because I need new tie rods in the front before I can align it. The wheels offset was +24 and now it's at +9 all around with the new 15mm spacers. Thw car is a little lower , suspension hadn't settle yet.

I installed the new deatschwerks injectors and got it tuned. It made 231whp and 242wtq @ 12psi. Not bad, I'm happy with the results!
