Thought i would start a build thread of my on going project while i am in school. Its nothing fancy, this is my daily driver that i drive everywhere (all year round). I only work on it during weekends and free time. Here is what she looked like when i bought her (First trip to banff):
Goodies when Purchased:
-Unknown coilovers (looks to be either ohlins or tokico)
-OEM front Strut bar
-Adjustable Front tension rods
-Random BOV
-Blitz Intake
-Rusty Kakimoto exhaust
-Leaking water pump
-Unkown clunking in the rear end gotta love surprises
When i purchased the car i had the stupid double BOV crap. Removed this crappy old rusted one lol. And installed new Synapse synchronic BOV (pics to come)
So after i bought the car i started working on the water pump ad getting her running right. New water pump and all new belts and pulleys were purchased from nismoparts.com great website and would recommend. Coolant flush and thermostat change at the same time. Then the maintenance started with spark plugs, 02 sensor, fuel filter, oil filter, redline fluids in all the gears, power steering flush, and so on.
Then i decided to ad some cool parts like new straight pipe 3 inch exhaust (no resonator, its loud and she barks). Lock bar and fuel hicks pump removal and lines all the way back to rear pump were also removed and power steering mod so no looping And a good old test pipe until the new down pipe comes.
So as far as the unknown clunking goes, i decided to take my car into a shop to have it looked at by Autodream. They thought that my subframe bushings were going and quoted me $500-900 to replace them (what a waste of my time and money). Got up enough courage and time and did them myself over 2 days on the weekend. Replaced them with AMS solid aluminum subframe bushings ( Were said to fit with no modification ....lies you need a spacer or washer on the end).
Took the car for a drive after this was all done, low and behold everything was still clunking (god damit auto dream) Wasn't a steering or suspension related.
So i worked up the courage to again to do the work myself with the help of my brother and the FSM. Took the diff apart and look what i found!!!!!!!! OMG PIMP OS GIKEN Spec-S ))))) Considering i only paid $3900 for the car this made my day.
At the time i thought my diff was toast so i bought a cheap OEM one to use so i can drive my car because it is my daily driver. Just waiting to bring in my diff to have it looked at to make sure its all good to go before it goes back in.
Then came some fun stuff. Did some audio mods being an installer. Along with full alarm/starter system with power mirror automation ( when you lock the mirrors fold in, when you unlock mirrors flow out) Thought this would burn the motors in the mirrors out but has been like that for a year now and they work in minus 40 still . Will have to post a video soon. Did some other security measures for my own sake.
Then i decided that the stance of my car is awful. Went to this placed called consolidated compressor and sand blasted my new rims then zinc cromate primed the wheels for paint. To my surprise considering all the info i read sand lasting the wheels is definitely the way to go you just need to spend your time.
PS this is not the final colour of my wheels just the colour the primer leaves.
Then got bored and bought a new intake and decided to redo all the silicon couplers in the engine bay. worked out pretty good i think:
Bought some interior goodies and vyinl wrapped my steering wheel and steering column. Was so easy just needed to get the right glue:
Turns out after all the work i need new front axels. Order them from Adam at feast auto great service acne great parts. Took me a total of 3 hours and wasn't that hard at all. Much easier than the subframe bushings.
