  • Mightyrocker's R33 GTST Build!! Back again!

    Hey Guys!

After a long break from my old r32 I'm back again with a fresh new build!
It's not going to be as speedy as the last one.. as I am in school right now and money is not easy to throw around. However, I figured I would at least share with the class..

Anyways, I picked up a S2 Kouki R33 GTST last fall. I never really liked r33s until I really got to drive one, They have now become my favorite series of R chassis(hate away) thus far. For a million and one reasons, even though every skyline is pretty f'in great..

First things on the car are going to be coilovers, getting her running proper, wheels+tires and fixing the body.
My plan by the end of this build is to get about 400hp and have a nice looking everyday summer car that can go in some more relaxed shows etc...

Here she is the day I picked her up, you can see all of the damage that someone tried to cover up with white tape.. The door is very scratched, the bumper is gouged out and one of the rear spats is pretty damaged. Hard to tell in the photos but there is work to be done

Get her back to the house and a little cleaned up

Immedeately I had some stuttering issues on the way home so first things first! Spark plugs and coilpacks.

And of course the moar low.

I discovered that these wheels are actually B.I.M. Zeit wheels. They are a spin forged wheel made by bridgestone. Mine are very curbed and each one looks like a keyed stud was drilled out...

I tried refurbishing them to maybe see if I would warm up to them. I used some "liquid metal" body filler and some rattle can self etching primer, rim paint and rim clear coat.... total cost about 45$ :

          After:

After a test fit, I'm still not into How they look. Time to buy some new rubber and wheels!

Nice car, I love the series 2 stylings. Before seeing a picture of your car I thought that the series 2 came with two different bumpers but now I see that its actually a removable lip.

^ are they Rota's or Uras? Nevertheless they will look nice... Sadly I have to sell my 2DR to keep the 4DR

Great find and build thread so far. I really like my series 1 and think the R33 GTST is one of the most under appreciated Skylines. They are light, fun to drive, reliable and easy to tune to impressive numbers. Even stock they are balanced and set-up really nice. Just a great all round front engined, rear wheel drive GT.

there are tons of them in auction all the time, adam@feast or daryl@rightdrive would have no problem getting them. honestly the teins are not the greatest. I would look into some HKS or ohlins if I could do it again. I just like how cheap the teins are!
