Car arrived at the docks from the south a few days ago. Got a walk around video. Looks quite clean will need a bit of elbow grease but for 15 years old it's not bad.
I don't like beaking anyone but the reaaly big thing that bugs me about Derek that I see in all his videos is that he doesn't seem to knowledgable about cars......
Exterior looks in good shape, center console scratching is a series 1 issue. The Aussies have a good thread on that.
I beg to differ, we've been emailing a lot about various cars I was interested in and he knows a lot... tons of random things you would not expect someone to know. I've been very happy with him though the process. He also was in a rush with my video due to his battery dying on his camera.
It's also supposed to be a visual tool for the buyer. Not a lesson video in skylines. Plus, if you sold every type of car I'm sure you wouldn't know everything about every car either.
Check the front of exhaust cam for wear, cambelt tightness, as when cambelt is loose they are known to cause excessive wear on front of exhaust cam (makes base timing wander a bit). A way to permantly fix it, is with aftermarket ECU (Link, ViPEC, etc), crank trigger setup from ROSS.
Also check front strut towers for rust or no paint (might rust in the future), as there's a replaceable piece on top of shock tower that rust's (rust's behind the panel). Common problem on R33, R34.
Thanks for the tips skym! There is one split seal on the left tower in the engine bay that I'll have to re seal but no rust which is good. The timing belt was replaced recently but I'll still take a peek at it to be sure.
