speedo/hicas question

i was just out for a drive and i'm pretty sure my speedo cable broke (has been noisy for a couple of days) and at the same time the hicas light came on and i have no power steering. does the r32 gts-t have speed sensitive steering,would just the broken cable cause this problem or do i need to look for another problem. thanks, jeff

HICAS uses speed, steering angle sensor behind steering wheel to determine when, how much, which direction to turn rear wheels.

HICAS goes into a limp mode. On my car it made the steering feel very heavy.

well youll know if your cable broke as you wont have a working speedo. when mine broke, i remember the hicas light coming on and it went away when i replaced it. the cable didnt effect my steering for daily driving but id suggest getting it fixed soon.

This exact same thing happened to me today. So do I need to get a new speedo cable? I also noticed that my steering reservoir is leaking slightly at one of the connections.

when your speedo cable breaks you will have no speedo as stated above and your ps will stop working

I have a hicas delete kit in my R32 GTST ..my speedo is like 35km/HR off..could this have anything to do with it?

So now is it currently in hicas 'limp' mode? And is the speedo the same in a r32 gtr or should I just buy a brand new one?

U probably will have to replace your cluster like Trickey. The little plastic piece behind the cluster usually breaks in this shituation.
