  • APEXI Safc Opinions and suggestions

    Hi Guys,

What are your views on this price and model?

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Apexi...Q5fAccessories

I know this has been asked before but I really value your guys suggestions and thoughts on if I am going in the right direction?

This is my plan of attack

    Mods:
    Done So far
    - HKS intake
    - BOV (unknown model make, was on car when I bought)
    - Aftermarket Apexi Exhaust
    - Turbo Timer
    - Nismo Thermostat
    - Tre 255LPH fuel pump

    Future Mods
    - FMIC from Saber ordered
    - Apexi Safc or other recommendations
    - Bigger Injectors Tomei 600CC or DeatschWerks 650CC
    - Cometic Head gasket
    - Boost Controller (undecided)
    - ARP Headstuds
    - Should I upgrade MAF from stock one?
    - Trust Oil Cooler & Filter relocation kit
    - Last thing will be a bigger Turbo

    Cheers,
    P

I think your mods list is fine but as far as the safc goes, unless your in a mad dash to get it back on the road (which is doubtful this time of year) its a waste of time and money on any mild to moderate mods list. It cannot tune ignition timing, and does a poor job of tuning your a/f. Instead spend 400 -500 dollars CDN on NISTUNE. You'll be very glad you did, i've tuned some with both and its night and day difference and with comparable pricing.

Sure Motec or AEM would be nice but NISTUNE will work as well as these for most people for less than a quarter the price.

      Matt is absolutely right.

NISTune is the way to go. It is a small daughterboard with 28 pins that slot right into the stock ECU chip. You connect your laptop to your ECU via the CONSULT cable and can tune your ECU on the fly and save your settings on your ECU. In short, it converts your stock ECU into a standalone unit. And with the price tag of under $500 (shipped to you in Canada), you cannot go wrong with it.

Go with NISTune. That is my opinion.

        Yep. Nistune is good.

With the low temp thermostat you'll need to adjust start up settings, otherwise engine will run richer until it reaches operating temp.

As far as I know you can't adjust start up settings with SAFC, so aftermarket ECU or Nistune is needed to adjust start up settings.

Yes, you'll need a Z32 MAF if you upgrade the turbo + Z32 MAF plug or what some call a tail (looks like a tail).

          Hi Guys,

Thanks for all your opinions and recommendations. I will definitely get that NisTune rather then Apexi SAFC. Question , did you guys solder it yourself, ship to Nistune or have local electronic shop do the soldering? Also with the Z32 MAF how is the wiring schematics different from the stock MAF? Edit found link http://paulr33.skylinesaustralia.com...er-wiring.html

          thanks,
          P

            With Nistune,

For you guys already running the software and had your ECU modded, did you ship to Nistune, Solder yourself , or take to a local electronic shop?

            thanks,
            p
