yeah im going to give it a whirl for sure, i just dont want to pop a hole in my piston.

do you know if i were to get GTR lifters if that would be a better way to go about doing this? and how hard are the lifters to change when they are worn out?

i have the engine on the stand now, dont thnk it should be that hard in the car.

To fit stock GTR cams = Tomei solid lifter kit, Tomei higher lift valve springs, adjustable camgears, ECU retune to suit.

so when you bleed the lifters properly .. are they supposed to be stiff or squishy ?

you shouldn't really ever be able to feel if its stiff or squishy it should always be solid due to the spring in the retainer.

When you bleed them, pull the retainer covers off, drain the oil, put them back in and your good to go. The lifters refill themselves perfectly when the motor runs for a while. You may here a bit of valve noise when you first fire the motor until the lifters all prime back up.

hmm ,, im really second guessing myself now . i had 4 lifters that i could easily press down the plunger with my finger prior to putting them back in the head when i was rebuilding. anyways i bled them and i was still able to press down the plunger with ease .

so after reading on here that it would be alright i went ahead and put them in . all 4 of them are situated for both intake and exhaust side of the 6th cylinder . soo ... am i on the path towards destruction ?

anyways im totally veering this thread off topic. GTR cams for me .. maybe next year. i hear its great bang for buck horsepower regarding anything to do with a RB20 head.

hmmmm well i might be wrong then on that one. I was sure that they would always be solid. But if thats how they are thats how they are. They probably stiffen up after they prime when the cars running. As long as you remembered to drain all the lifters thats the main thing.
