  • Boost issue ...again.

im running a rb20 with a 25 turbo and gtr injectors. and running a manual boost controller. when ever i boost it just pops and farts its been tuned and ran fine. i put on my new spare maf as well as checked the gap in the plugs which i was told to gap at .27 also i dont have any boost leaks. ive only had it on the road since the turbo and injectors for a day now and havent had a time to really get it going and warm it right up. my main opinion on the issue is dead coilpacks. due to lack of RB owners that im friends with i wanted to get your opinions on this. i just prefer some insight before i pay out for new coilpacks. and also is that the proper gapping(.027) for my application at 16psi.

also anyone local*jon, josh or any one else in the rough area willing to come out for a night and let me try there coilpacks? since ian wont be back form longbeach till next week*

I thought gap would be better at 0.8mm. at 12psi or more. If you have to run even smaller, my guess is bad coilpacks. Smaller gap just disguises weakening coils i thinks?

    ps: 0.8mm is 0.031 inches, .27 is like 6.8mm. so i think you're mising a 0 before that 27 :O Otherwise yeah I can see a misfire with a 6.8mm gap, lol

First off try running the boost and 10psi and seeing if you have the same issue, its possible that your stock coils cant keep up with that high a boost application. second trying gapping your plugs at 0.6mm at 16psi that should avoid any mistake on the plugs' part. do you have a after market MAF?

Glad you got it figured out. I replaced my coils with splitfires and have never looked back. Good Buy.
Traction is optional, so are zipties
