  • Fuel Pump Fuse Keeps Blowing??

so my 92 r32 gtst keeps blowing a fuse everytime i turn the ignition to the on position which in turn stops the fuel pump from turning on im really running out of options so im leaving up to you guys to help me out or give me any info on what to do

I was told by auto sparky that ignition fuse can blow without the earth on ignition module. I would assume this is what is happening on your car. So could be like you have said, shorting, touching / earthing directly to chassis which you have checked wiring for lack of earth. From memory, relay should have a earth and is connected to IACV that won't function if relay doesn't work.

I always thought you traced wiring from fuelpump to drivers side rear 1/4 and find the relay on those wires.

I always thought relay was under the aluminium bracket (looks similar to a ballast resistor pack) that's on bottom of boot, next to fuelpump access hole. But some say the relay is in the drivers side 1/4 panel, behind the boot trim. Never had problems with relay, so haven't had the need to look for it. But I know it's connected to IACV via looking at wiring diagram.

i looked where u guys have said and havn't seen anything even checked beside the IACV the only place i seen relativly close to a green relay was two behind the ECU but im almost positive not one of them in the relay so i dunno it doesnt seem like i can get a straight answere as to where the fuel pump relay is located ive checked other skyline forums on the internet to come up with nothing

As far as I know not beside IACV, power for IACV is connected to fuelpump relay. Power to fuelpump relay comes via ignition barrel, fuse, but can be interupted via ECU / Consult to turn fuelpump off when you want to run engine (fuelpump relay power supply can be interupted by ECU, pinout number 18 on a RB25DE engine ECU plug) to clear fuel lines of fuel before changing fuelfilter, injectors, etc. Earth for fuelpump relay seems to be through IACV earth or earth off ignition barrel. I assume one of those 2x earths is the culprit of fuse blowing. Sometimes devices like turbo timer can be earthed off the ignition barrel earth and might cause fuse to blow.

Also this thread on SAU has lots of info on fuel pump mod and different ways to do it with lots of DIY diagrams -

im pretty sure its in the trunk . maybe tomorrow ill take some pictures for you. you have to remove some of the trunk panels to see it but it is to the right of the trunk release latch.

Sorry to hear... It's always sad when a person has to rely on a 20 year old car that has little to no parts support locally, as a daily driver. Atleast there's the bus. You should see this as an obvious message that it's time to buy something that is easily serviceable/reliable for daily driving. I take the bus so my other vehicles are not primary. It's always why I can easily stay under 10,000km a year on the truck and 4000km a year on the car while still enjoying them on my days off

Next time it breaks, you won't have to scramble to get it fixed
