  • Cat heat sensor?

i have a light that keeps flickering randomly on my cluster. someone told me its the cat heat sensor, the flashing light does correspond to the ecu LED. when i check for codes I get a 55 which everyone should know means everything is fine. the cat heat sensor is not attached to the test pipe i had anymore since i needed a real cat for Ontario emissions.

the problem comes and goes all that happens i get that annoying light flicker any suggestions?

Hey Andrew, try tucking it up under the heat shield above the CAT. Make sure it's touching metal. Maybe it slipped out and isn't grounding anymore?
Only thing I can think of, other than that I'm lost. Mine is tucked up there right now with no problem...I should get it installed into my test pipe though to be sure. Mufflerman can weld a bung onto your pipe for it as well if you wanted to try that.
I'll give you a call when I roll in again...if you haven't figured it out we can put my old exhaust (has a bung for sensor) on your car and see if it goes away.

BTW the car run better with the new IC pipe on it?

Buy / get a intake hose clamp and strap cat sensor to side of exhaust to earth it. It's what I did on my car and has been like that for 8-10 years or so.

that happened to me when I took my ecu out and checked for codes also. I didn't turn the screw all the way back and the car went in to limp mode. It drove like **** and that cat light came on so check that you're put the screw all the way back too.

Also like mentioned above, check the diagnostic pot / screw on side of ECU and see if it's set to run mode, not diagnostic mode. I had the same problem as mentioned above, cat light kept lighting up (jumping between diagnostic, run mode) when car hit bump in road, as cat light also acts as a engine check light.
