Need help tonight!! Major hicas issue!!

so i got to be at autocross tomorrow at 7am and tonite my hicas is messing up.

once i hit 70km the hicas comes on and instead of keeping the wheels straight they turn to the left and so it dog tracks down the road..

low fluid maybe? it does look to be a tad low

try resetting the ecu and make sure the steering wheel points straight.
its probably just your hicas computer giving up on you.

Mine does this too. When it starts doing it, find a place to pull over. Turn the car off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. If I do that, it goes into error mode or something and doesn't work at all. This might not be very feasable when you are waiting in a line for autocross, though. Maybe just accept that your car is going to be a jerk and fix it for next time? You can still drive when it's doing this, just remember that the handling dynamics will change everytime you start passing 60kmh

so i just unlugged my hicas motor went for a drive and obviously it didnt do it cuz it was unplugged then plugged it in restarted car and now its not doing it at all anymore.

i doubt this was a permanent fix. but it should work for tomorrow

Heard of this happening on motorway and causing a crash and is one of the reasons why HICAS was disabled on my car.

Common problems with HICAS are faulty speedo cable, faulty / misaligned steering angle sensor behind steering wheel (or not using HICAS compatible boss kit with aftermarket steering wheel), low voltage from alternator, HICAS ECU failure due to water entering breather holes on top of HICAS ECU (trunk / boot not closed properly or leaking rear window seal), low fluid in powersteering resouvoir (light on dash can light up when cornering).

When HICAS ECU fails, steering can feel heavy (limp mode) when cornering.

Sometimes there's play on rack or hub side balljoints (or both) on HICAS rack arms causing rear of car to break traction in one direction only.

join the non hicas club like most of us. since ive taken it out this winter i cannot begin to tell you how much better my car feels in corners at high speeds. doesnt feel like im going to be jerked into the ditch anymore haha. i threw a lock bar on for now, next winter the subframe is being replaced with an s13 one along with all new rear bushings

This seems like the most logical place to ask a HICAS question. I have a hicas delete installed and I'm sure my hicas is in limp mode, I'm just trying to figure out how to fix it. I noticed one of the wires going into the PS reservoir is broken _right at the cap_ so I can't fix it. Will tieing the two wires together trick the hicas into thinking the PS reservoir is OK? Is there a way to prevent the hicas computer from affecting the steering? I saw another post saying to cut the green wire going into the hicas ecu connector - has anyone tried that?
