  • Turbo Kit Install PROBLEM

    Hey Everyone,

I have just finished installing a new turbo,FMIC and Manual BC in my 91' GTS-T. There was a minor coolant leak from the line to the turbo but has been have replaced today.

Went to go drive the car around the block for the first time in 4 months and as I was returning home I suddenly heard a loud "Purging" noise as if a hose had blown off and was releasing pressure. Upon returning to the garage I did a once-over of the engine and smelt something burning, saw no smoke and sourced no immediate damage to the topside of the engine, no immediate leaks underneath either. Now after Idling for 15 minutes the car begins to idle rougher and rougher, Oil pressure goes down and the RED warning light on the oil gauge begins to blink periodically. Afterward a loud whine began right where the intake manifold rests and a sort of clicking noise could be heard. It also seems as though my HKS BOV is not releasing properly.

I'm stumped on what it could have been and am in need of some serious help, please.
The car has not been tuned yet and is running stock Injectors.

Clicking is injectors and is normal. Could be TPS is faulty or not adjusted correctly, as engine can idle that low and low oil pressure warning light flash when TPS is not adjusted properly (not touching idle contact inside TPS, so stock ECU doesn't switch to idle tables).

Also I would do a compression test to rule out engine internals, headgasket as a cause. If hear strange noises from intake manifold, sometimes can be head to intake manifold gasket has failed and hearing engine internals or camcover gasket's are leaking.

Try doing a Boost Leak test! That will reveal and Vacuum leaks or gasket blowouts.
As Skym says, A compression check(innaccurate on a cold engine but will show a problem if your PSI's are drastically different). Also a low idle will trip Oil pressure light in cluster, Light at that same time is notoriously in R32s a liar.
Check ECU for Codes, and load up the R32 engine manual and test whatever sensors you can.

What Turbo and FMIC did u install? And was it before our after your cars 4 Month sleep?
