  • SMIC Help

Well engine has been rebuilt from the ground up, all my aftermarket goodies I've been waiting to put in are on, and the car was dyno'ed and runs like a champ. Like a freaking rocket ship I should say.
Anyways, during the dyno, the highest we could get the boost was 14psi without any knock. Turbo can handle way higher and injectors are only running at 34% capacity but my tuner said my stock SMIC was restricting my boost levels.
So aside from spending a boat load on a full FMIC jobbie with piping, I found a really nice, used ARC SMIC with huge piping and would at least give me a few more pounds of boost. I know the FMIC is totally worth it in the long run, and I plan on one in the future, however, I was wondering if anyone else had used one of these aftermarket SMIC before and what kind of results you saw from it. Worth it?

Score, ARC is a good SMIC. Make sure you run the ARC wind master plate (aluminium sheet with louvers in it or similar if you make your own plate) behind SMIC, as SMIC will heat soak (heat builds up behind SMIC and heat soaks back of SMIC) after 10 runs or so on a hot day on dyno.

Can get over 200rkw / 268.2rwhp with HKS 25/30 turbo at 1bar + peak, but heat soak becomes a problem.

Check out the dyno result thread on SAU, as the dyno sheet for ARC SMIC on R32 with HKS 25/30 turbo is there -

Man, U DO NOT need to spend $$$$$ on a FMIC ! I have a chinese-made cheap Ebay FMIC and my RB30DET puts out 585rwhp. Enough said.
