  • rb20 idle problem

just recently my rb20 (once it been run for a while or warms up) doesnt do it all the time but itll start reving up and down almost dieing at lights... sometme it will actually die and usuall starts right back up then when i start to drive (when its reving wierd) ill have hardly any power and it will miss or hesitate at time like completly cut out for a second or 2...... if i shut it off and let it cool down for like 5 min then start it it goes back to normal... only thing ive done lately was buttomed out hard the other day....

    any suggestions

Sounds exactly what my car was doing. I tried everything, thought it was vacuum so changed the lines, thought it was fuel problems (due to losing complete power), but then I ran my hand along the MAF wiring while it was running and I could make the car bog out. So i replaced the wiring, still did it, so I was convinced I was having a MAF problem. So I replaced it, now it runs better than ever. I would start there. Borrow a friends MAF or something

I believe the CAS can cause stalling problems once the car is warmed up

Yep, thats exactly what mine did. It got continually worse, till I couldnt even drive on the high way without it lossing power, which led to the bouncing idle. Just borrow a friends MAF and cancel out that problem

Cam Angle sensor...its right infront of the cam cover...if you remove it make sure to mark it where it was or else your going to have to reset the timing

so i cleaned the maf considering i coulnt find one and it was good while i was driving then i let it idle for like 20 min and it started doing it then popped the hood and like minute latyer it stopped so could this still be the maf? seems once it gets really warm under the hood it starts to do it cause it will only do it on a hot day and wont do it at nights when its cooler(driving wise)

seems like your maf is getting too hot from the engine is it turned to the side or down try having it face up and see it if happens

Try an igniter pack, those will fail once they're heatsoaked. Mafs will be useless even cold once they're done.
