  • RB20 Dimensions

Wasn't sure where else this post would be appropriate so here it goes.

I'm a mechanical engineering student and I have an interest in Inline 6 engines and the Nissan RB series; specifically the RB20DE.

I also have a 3D solid modeling/CAD package and would like to work on creating a complete solid model of an RB20DE engine. To do this, I need a lot of information, specifically dimensions on every part.

Now so far I have had minimal luck finding part information and dimensions online (except for things like bore and stroke) so I was hoping some people on this forum could help me.

Right now I'd like some good dimensions on these parts: Crankshaft, Connecting Rods, Pistons.

If anyone is doing a service or rebuild on an RB20 and would like to help me out by getting some measurements on their engine parts right now, that would be awesome. Or if someone has this information on-hand and would like to share that would be great too.

Let me know if you can help me out!

    Thanks!

Edit: High quality, scale photos are also appreciated.

RB20DE has higher compression, so piston crown height should be different (higher) than RB20DET piston crown (most on this forum rebuild RB20DET engine). Also no oil squirters on bottom of cylinders for squirting oil on underside of pistons on RB20DE engine (only RB20DET). Apart from headgasket thickness (I think RB20DE headgasket is thinner), cam spec changes (intake cam on RB20DE is different), RB20DE, RB20DET engines should be identical, even have the same oil feed, etc on shortblock for turbo (why turbocharging a RB20DE is popular downunder).

Well, then if someone is working on an RB20DET then they could potentially get me the measurements (and maybe some pics) of the crankshaft? Things like main-bearing surface width and diameter as well as connecting rod bearing surface width and diameter. I'd also need width of the counterweights and overall length of the crankshaft.

Also, I'd like to get some basic dimensions for the engine block (H x W x D) as well as basic measurements on the head (H x W x D).
