  • No Headlights....

I've got a bit of a problem on my hands and was wondering if anyone here can give me some suggestions as to what went wrong and how I can fix it...I just installed two new headlight bulbs about a month ago and only one worked headlight worked (passenger side) even though there was two new bulbs in the housings. I figured this was going to happen since one (driver's side) randomly stopped working just before I changed the bulbs and since the car doesnt get driven more than once or twice a month and rarely at night I wasn't too concerned.

The other night when I was driving home from work I turned on my headlights and as per usual only the passenger side headlight was working. As I turned down the street to my house I thought that it got very hard to see and I stopped to find that now the passenger side headlight was out as well. So now I only have parking lights functioning with the knob on the side of the dash turned to 'headlight on'. All interior lights function correctly as do tail lights but when I try the highbeams only the passenger side works. This is when they are in the 'on' position (lever pushed to the front of the car) but when I pull the lever towards the back of the car as if to flick the high beams at someone, both highbeam bulbs work. Fiddling with the switch on the side of the dash gives me now results and neither does wiggling the harnesses on the back of the bulbs.

This has got me fairly confused and anyone who has some answers they would be much appreciated. Is this the headlight switch as I have read on other threads before? It seems similar to those problems but not the exact same....

    Thanks.

I remember a couple people had issues with the inside of the switch in the dash burning out and melting. You might want to start there. Also dont forget to check your fuse.

The fuse is good, I know that for sure. I was thinking it was the switch but just wanted some confirmation from some people who have had the same problem before I go and drop some cash on it. Anyone else agree its the switch or can speak from past experience?

You should be able to tell by just taking it out and having a look at it before buying another one.
