UPDATE -- well I took the car out to swing by a shop for testing and I never made it there and as it died it felt like a severe loss of fuel so I pulled the main fuel line off the fuel rail and I've got no pressure . Is there a regulator or do I need to replace the pump? And if so where can I get a walboro 255 for a good price?

The reason I'm thinking regulator is the amount of time I was still able to drive it even with it acting up is there a way to bypass to check the pump?? And where is the regulator??91 skyline gtst type M

Also check fuelfilter, as clogged fuelfilter could be the cause of low fuel pressure, fuelpump failure.
FPR is near front engine / intake plenum (drivers side) on R32. If you pull vacuum hose that goes to FPR while engine is idling, fuelpressure should rise 7.1psi on fuel pressure gauge, when you have a fuelpressure gauge T'd in between fuelfilter, fuelrail. I think RB26, RB20 share the same FPR, as both run same fuel pressure.
I think voltage regulator or wiring, etc for GTS for fuelpump is located next to lock on bottom / rear half of trunk. Some just run full power to fuelpump (runs fuelpump at 100%) to check it or use as a workaround. But running fuelpump at 100% all of the time, can heat fuel, put more strain on alternator when light's, etc are on, make fuelpump noisey, wear brush type stock fuelpumps out earlier, etc.Last edited by Skym; 11-27-2010, 02:26 AM.RESPONSE MONSTER

awesome - I have a serious list to check my self (nice to see these suggestions match).
I had a post earlier but sounds like a lot of the symptoms are the same.

anyone know the part number for the rb20 TPS sensor? I'm having the same problem and have gone through many used ones. Just gonna buy new and be done with it.
I would assume a person can pick them up at their local autoparts store? I would assume the 300zx and q45 use same ones?

While you're there, check your air-flow meter (part after the air filter box) and make sure the element in the middle is clean, then check the oxygen (air-fuel ratio) sensor that's on the dump pipe after the turbo. These things have a tendency to play-up at about the same intervals in a Skyline's life.RB30DET !
