  • High revving rb20det??

Hello, I would like to know what would be needed to make a Rb20 rev harder, not like a Vtec thing of course, but I've heard that the engine properly modded could rev up to 9000rpm.

If you have any source of a build like this, post it up!

I want to know what parts are needed to make it rev! I'm not planning a 500hp setup, would only like something different with a lot of response, and a turbine like a gt2871r or anything in that size, like a hks gt2530, gt2540 or maybe a highflow'd rb25det turbine with steel exhaust wheel.

    Thanks for your replys!

you need a balanced and blueprinted engine (rotating assembly) aftermarket rods...... metal head gasket/arp bolts everywhere.... oil pump and a built head with cam shafts etc to do it right...... also acl bearings.... crank damper.... and if your doing all that you would do pistons too....

there is no easy way that is safe to increase your redline..... takes a tuffer more balanced engine with bigger badder parts.... end of story

And take a lesson from race engines. If you plan to increase top end, especially on a 2L, you will lose what little bottom end power you have.

The cams, turbo and size of ports you would want to flow efficiently at 9000 would pretty much eliminate any bottom end power.

Not that the 20 has any bottom end power to start with :P

If you hit 300whp on a rb20 in a gts-t, that should easily be enough power to have fun.

It is a very rev happy engine as it is.

Yeah, thats the numbers I'm looking for, pretty sure I could easily get this power with rb25 turbine and a good tune!

If want response on the cheap, use stock engine and small turbo like stock TD05 turbo off a EVO (need adaptor plate for flange, etc). At 13.5psi it should easily produce 254rwhp (low boost / street setting). At 16psi (high boost / dyno setting), should be close to your rwhp goal of 300whp.

For supporting mods, Deatchwerks 550c injectors, Nismo 255lph fuelpump, Z32 MAF + pigtail, HDI tube N fin FMIC, Nistune for stock ECU, HKS or Blitz boost controller, upgraded clutch, 1.2mm, 80.5mm bore Tomei metal headgasket, ARP headstuds, engine oilcooler.

Yeah, will probably use my rb25 turbo, I buyed one last year, also got some blitz 534cc injectors brand new in boxes. Already have Fmic, old version Apexi Avc-r boost controller and upgraded clutch in my car, just need some money for the rest!

Do you have any sources for a Nismo fuel pump?, was thinking about a TT supra fuel pump, but if I can get a drop in unit for a fair price, that would be great!

Walbro 255LPH is popular because you can get one for about 80-100 bux brand new and it will drop in and be reliable.

Hit 340@ wheel w/ mine w/o the fuel system even sweating a drop.

                        ^^ what he said.

Go walbro 255, just buy from an authorized retailer so you don't get a fake.

btw I don't consider the 20 to be high revving in stock form.

                          problem?
