  • My new Gts-t,Sleek & Sexy, But how does she work?

I picked her up a few weeks back in Calgary I love everything about it, the deep blue with the rims to match, sexy interior and a few controllers which is where my questions start, (I would absolutly hate to damage anything by fiddling around with the knobs lol) it has a:

    Apexi super afc
Apexi super actuator valve controller type-r

Now I found the english manual for the type-r and it was kinda loosing me but it said something about not to set the boost level above factory settings or something but I can't find anything on that either so i'm just lost all around haha

when I bought the car it was set to 0.65kg/cm2 (ill double check the units) anyways it goes up to 2.0kg but I just dont want to set it to high, I tried 1.30 and did notice a difference in my boost,

The other question, once I get my turbo up the the 1.3kg mark it feels like theres some sort of governer because I feel a bog when it gets up into the redline and I heard that you can control that with the avc-r.

Ive blabbed enough about stuff I know nothing about lol so please please help me out
    Jay

stop by a shop(preferably a tuner shop) that's familiar with the controls so they can teach you and answer your questions! i think it's kinda hard to teach it over a forum cause it's best to learn when you actually see what's happening :P

I agree with post above, go to a tuner.

Remove SAFC and fit Nistune to stock ECU, so stock ECU can be retuned. SAFC plays with MAF signal and tricks ECU into running richer or leaner. It means when boost is upped, there's no way to add more fuel, as SAFC won't adjust fuel map, only signal from MAF which makes ECU select richer or leaner fuel cells on fuelmap, same cell on ignition map.

Always set boost controller up on dyno with wideband 02sensor installed in exhaust to make sure A/F (Air/Fuel) ratio doesn't go lean (more air than fuel) and blow engine up.

I most definatly agree with you guy's, I was just seeing if anyone has experienced this before or had worked with the afc in the past.

Thanks for the advice and to anyone else feel free to msgme if you have any other info thanks!

afc's are dangerous, i had one in my 4 door drift car, and one day driving down the freeway not really going to hard i decided i needed a kick of boost so i pushed on it a little bit, just to my great luck the afc glitched and leaned out severly causing my number two piston to melt and basically weld itself to the cylinder wall. get that thing outtta there!
Owning a turboed car is a great way to prevent your jackstands from getting stolen

OMG I bet that was a fun ordeal:0

Thats what ive heard from everyone, afc's are not the greatest,

OH, what is "leaning out" ive read about it a little in the last couple minutes and it sounds like when theres more air then fuel? im still learining how i should go about this problem in the summer. What does leaning out feel like/sound like/ ect lol? thanks again!

OH heres some pictures let me know what you think

Leaning out causes detonation, which can be heard as an audible "pinging" noise. Sort of like marbles being rattled in a tin can, perhaps? At least that's what mine sounded like when it pinged once. Someone whos knowledge I trust greatly on the subject once said that, "The engine will feel amazing, like it's pulling harder than ever before, right before it blows".

What other mods have been done to the car that you've found/know about? There's a good chance that if the car was setup with the AFC in Japan, it's most likely running incredibly rich. Most Japanese tunes are rich beyond belief.

1.3kg/cm2 is 18.5psi. You might want to dial that down

From what I understand, running it rich is just in case exhaust manifold leaks which makes engine run leaner and (what we have talked about on forum in the past) taking into account inaccurate reading from wideband o2 sensor, etc. Basically playing it safe.

Nistune (daughter board, etc that replaces EPROM chip, which stores fuel, ignition maps, etc) converts stock ECU, so stock ECU can be retuned via using Consult diagnostic plug under drivers side of dash. Basically once Nistune is installed in ECU, you plug in (via USB or Serial Consult cable) a Laptop that has Nistune tuning software and can change or modify maps, tables on stock ECU in realtime. You plug wideband o2 sensor up to laptop for tuning.

Also you can buy a 10" or 8" screen Android tablet PC for not much $$$ (for around $200) + Nistune tuning software (tuning software has a gauge feature) to act as a digital display and can have accurate coolant temp, AFM voltage, battery voltage, injector duty cycle, knock count, etc. Basically just like the R34GTR, R35GTR MFD display in centre console, but is removable and can change maps on stock ECU, datalog, play music, etc.

                        Android Tablet PC -

Make sure Android Tablet PC has at least 2x USB 2.0? ports for USB Consult cable, USB wideband o2 sensor and decent processor, amount of ram.

Hmmmmm that looks like a really good setup i`de like to be able to see all the stats, if only it could mount it into the gaping hole I have in my consol lol

you say the tablets have the nistune software pre loaded? and how does it hook up to my nistune? usb?orr...bluetooth lol idk?
I'm probably picturing it wrong but your able to see stats while you drive correct?

And the EPROM chip is a stock chip?
