those outers cant fail. just a chunk of metal, the ball joint that can fail is pressed in. Yes if you do the bar as i did you still need good inner tie rods. Mine has a bit of play in one side so replacing them both with the ebay ones
Stock balljoints on hub side have lube nipples on balljoints that are not lubed enough at factory. There are aftermarket arms, balljoints, as shown above (balljoint on hub side has no lube nipple, but is prelubed). Cheaper than factory parts. I have the aftermarket balljoint, arm on my car, that's why I know. Best to have a can of black spray paint handy to paint arm afterwards, as looks out of place if not painted black.
Can fit Driftworks Total HICAS Eliminator Kit that removes the balljoints (uses bushes where balljoints on hub side were) -
