  • Skyline Will Not Start

    Hey everyone,

So first off.. i need to start my skyline to move it away from the garage wall so i can start to work on my wheel and suspension mods. Its about 8 inches from the wall (i needed the garage space at the time).

I was a dumbass and didn't put any oil/fuel stabilizer before parking it
It has not been started for 5 months. The car will crank but it will not turn over. So these are the things I've tried so far..
    - Added 10 L of fresh premium gas
    - Added a dose of winter fuel injector cleaner (should prevent gas lines from freezing)
    - Bought a brand new battery (570 cold crank amps, 680 amps)
    - Magnetic oil pan heater running for 2 days already
    - Checked fuel pump fuse.. its good. Fuel pump whines on pre-ignition
    - Took off Apexi air filter cone and sprayed Quick Start® through intake
    - Hooked up a booster pack to the battery terminals to give it more OOMF

It will crank and I could rear it begin to start for a split second at a time and the tach needle would jump a little. It wants to start but it won't.
As a side note, the weather here in Winnipeg has also been hitting -28 lows and -40 with the wind chill.

Please offer me some advice guys. I know you are a knowledgeable group!

    Thank You!

    hey

If it was running when you parked it, it could be as simple as corrosion on the contacts for the sensors/ wiring clips for the injectors. So your computer might not be reading one or more things (it happens)
I had a similar problem recently, so I started with the basics, spark test, make sure fuel is getting in, all was well but still no start, so..... I started unpluging sensors one at a time and trying to start it and.... it started
So like I said if it ran when it was parked its probably a small thing, go through the basics first fuses etc..
    keep us posted

5 months is not enough to make the fuel go bad so the new gas and stabilizer will not help. Turning over is cranking so I assume you mean is is not firing. If the engine is turing over at a normal speed a new battery and warm oil will not help.

It's either fuel, air, spark or timing. Pull a plug and see if they are sparking when cranking (hold against the block), see if there is any fuel on the plugs after trying to crank for a while.
I've heard of the crank angle sensor braking off when tring to start after sitting for a while. Might be worth looking into also.

Keep in mind I'm not a mechanic

Dirty wet fouled plugs were the problem. A quick change and the car started right up on the first try!

          thanks guys

glad to see this sorted out.

Yeah usually after a long storage, it's wise to change the plugs.
