  • Few questions regarding my new turbo setup

    recently picked up the following:
    rb25 neo turbo
    gtr injectors
    socketed/tuned stock ecu
have 3" exhaust, and cone filter intake
    front mount intercooler

just trying to sort a few things out. It's tuned for 16-18 psi.

    1. From what i've searched i'll want plugs gapped at .8mm, but i'm unclear as to what heat range to run. sounds like 6, but maybe 7. input would be nice. also what type of plug is good?

    2. Will i need to upgrade my BOV? and what would be the benefit of upgrading from the stock bov if the stock one doesn't leak at 18 psi?

no you do not need to "upgrade" grade your bov. the only reason to upgrade bovs is for sound. the recirculating system is more beneficial to the performance of your motor than atmospheric. so basically the only benefit of a aftermarket bov is making girls wet. as far as plugs i have always ran ngk iridium

Your best bet is to avoid iridium - often misfire at that spec and are subject to breaking on det/knock if map is a bit strange.

Best bet is - BCPR7E or BKR7E .. Gapped to .8 is good, or less. I normally gap to .7 but its to the individual. As for heat range, i ran 7's at 15 psi and they were very nice. OEM is 5 .. 6 is good, but 7 seems to be the sweet spot for a modified rb.

And, keep your BOV, or delete it (block it off). A/M bov is not a necessary modification as stated above. If you want it to sound good, go for it, but dumping all this extra pressure to atmosphere is just hindering performance.

Make sure to upgrade your fuel pump over the stocker to compensate for the higher CFM / injector load. I found the Holly 255 LPH Supra pump was a direct drop in / affordable price.

You will also need the GTR resistor pack to support the GTR injectors like pictured below:

A 12V wire (red) feeds the pack and gets split to each injector. This will run the low impedance required for the GTR injectors.

First guy was right, iridiums are a waste of money. A good set of coppers will be wallet friendly and perform better. Copper is a better conductor of electricity!

BKR7E all the way. I have iridiums right now and I do not notice ANY difference (other than my wallet flinching)
