  • Removing Stock BOV ..NEED HELP!

ok. so Im removing my stock BOV and im installing my tial 50mm. on the stock bov there is a large vacuum line that connects to the back and then connects into the stock intake pipe and into a line ontop of the valve cover towards the front. SO! heres what a stock one looks like

now my question is .. is it safe to what this guy did? and just cut the vacuum hosing and plug it? or put a mini breather on it.and if i do this is there anything else i have to do so it doesnt harm my engine?

Thats the recirculating hose, just go to the hardware store and buy a plug, I forget the diameter. I wouldn't cut it right away because you might not like how your car runs with a vta bov if you're not tuned for it.

In red circle is the PCV hose where the blowby gas from engine (with oil when boost levels are raised) gets vented into rubber intake pipe that's located infront of turbo when engine is under boost. If you block it, can blow the turbo oil seals, etc.

The 1.1 inch or so hard pipe after the BOV recirculation joiner that's connected to stock BOV is the recirculation pipe for BOV and goes to the same rubber intake pipe that's located infront of turbo.

Yeah i was about to say that the line circled in red does not look like the recirculation pipe, below it where you can kind of see a hose clamp would be the one you would want to disconnect and block off, if you dont block in before the turbo then you will be pulling in unmetered air and causing the engine to run lean. I would think that if you took you recirculation pipe off right after the stock BOV and remove the soft piece and block it off at the hard pipe that should be below the intake pipe, that way wont be visible either. Just my thoughts, can anyone correct me on this?

With MAF it's best to recirculate the air (unless you use a blow through MAF) due to your removing air behind MAF (that MAF has already measured) and ECU doesn't compensate, so ECU injects what it sees from MAF and engine goes rich (engine can stall due to running too rich). With MAP it's measured at intake plenum, so don't have to worry about venting to engine bay or recirculating the air as ECU can compensate.

Exhaust side valve cover hose should go back to PCV or a oil catch tank or from tank to PCV I believe

I have mine going to a catch tank
