  • Turbo issue??

Hey guys I'm not exactly sure if this problem is directly related to turbo but I assume it's a boost issue maybe someone has had a similar problem.
Basically out of no where yesterday I could barely hear the spooling from my intake and I'm not getting much of a bov sound either basically both are half as loud as Monday I don't really understand it but my stock boost gauge seems to be reading around the same as normal any ideas???
    Thanks!

hmm. I would say check your charge piping. I don't know if that would be a leak though.

usually if the IC piping comes loose or off you'll hear a really loud hissing sound

It's normal due to blowby + excessive oil in head that gets ejected into rubber intakepipe infront of turbo at higher rpm, boost levels.

If oil in bottom of 90 degree intake pipe that bolts onto turbo, could be front turbo oilseal (stock turbo failed that way on my car). It's a common failure problem with stock turbo when it gets older. When oilseal does leak, bearings can fail and can get whistling sound (compressor wheel touching compressor housing) around 0 on boost gauge. My cars stock turbo got so bad that it started to make a wacking sound.

If have removed BOV and not replaced the gasket, it can leak from BOV flange (learnt this after changing to BOV with O ring for gasket). Same gasket as used on turbo to exhaust manifold flange and needs to be changed everytime you remove them. Why, because there's a ridge seal that gets crushed on those gaskets and once crushed it can't be used again.
