  • Speedometer and odometer stopped

So I got this new job Friday and had to drive to Newmarket (Davis dr and young st) and I went to leave but decided to travel down young to king st. Well there was construction in the are and hit a slight bump in the road and looked down and I was traveling at 0km/h. My steering also became very hard and the hicas light came on. All else on the vehicle is fine but that. I'm assuming it's the spedo cable so I went to Nissan and they told me I need a part number in order to get this part. I have no idea where to begin looking for one or how to change one if that's even the problem. What do you guys think/ know?

Get yourself Nissan Fast. It is Nissans part program, enter in your JDM VIN and find the part you need, get the Part #. Google it to find it and follow instructions on how to install.
As for your cluster, R32 or R33?

Trust me man.. try replacing the cluster first before anything else..

When I asked a shopped to troubleshoot mine they recommended a speed sensor, etc but in the end I fixed it myself with a new cluster.

The only challenge is finding a cluster that matches your ORIG KMS.. (I don't support rewinding but it can be done on R32 cluster's. Only rewinding to match real KMS thou..)

I ended up pulling the cluster out today and revealed the little "coupling" which I am assuming is the end of the speedo cable. It has a little cylinder shaped rod that will give off a half or quarter turn while driving. Im not sure if thats normal or if it should what?

I'm looking into a cluster right now but I don't even see one on ebay lol does anyone have one they're willing to part with?

look at the end of the cable could be broken the white plastic end or could be cracked
            pn for cable 25050-02U00

there are two different types of clusters early and later which i believe arent interchangeable
the beige-backed cluster is for zenki skylines, pre-aug91
the blue-backed cluster is for kouki skylines, post-aug91

understeer -is when you go off the road and see the tree that kills you
oversteer-is when you go off the road backwards and dont see the tree that kills you

Thanks for the info Anthony! It seems that I have located two clusters one beige-backed and one blue-backed and there is no info on them being interchangeable so I believe you just saved me a ton of trouble. Im gonna go to the nissan dealer tomorrow with the PN and hopefully they can source it. Thanks again and ill keep you updated.
