  • Blown Turbo?

So I think I blew my turbo. It sounds not like spooling but like grinding kinda or just loud and not proper. It does not boost at all it seems and makes noise when it tries too. If I drive lightly it will run on vacuum and not make noise but if I give it gas it'll get loud. Pretty sure it's a blown turbo but can anyone confirm?
Also, if it is, would this be an alright direct bolt on turbo?

Well does it sound like my turbo is blown? Lol I don't know so I don't know if that's what I need. If it is, I'd either want that turbo for like 100 or so or I'd spend the 500 on a steel blade so I'm not worried about that happening again. Plus that one claims 291rwhp at 16psi which is pretty good for stock everything else. And judging by the a/r of it and from what I understand about turbos, I should be able to run that at higher psi with better injectors and fuel pump, etc and get even more power. Am I correct on that

Mine made the same noise when it blew. The exhaust side turbine was shattered. Take off your dump pipe and have a gander if you want to be sure but by the sounds of it your turbo is toast.

I didn't get any black smoke but I did get white smoke. The engine seems to rev fine all the way up, but I don't hear the turbo spooling at all. I don't have the time to take it apart to check the turbo and everything so should I take it to a shop to check before I buy a turbo?

I would suggest checking it yourself. Its not difficult and really "not enough time to do it" doesnt make sense. You could have your downpipe/intake pipe removed in less time than it would take you to get it to a shop and have them check it. And for the labour a shop will charge you just to tell IF its blown you could buy yourself a minty used one.

Yea I know they will charge me, I don't care about the labor for that as I will just leave the car there if it is blown and get one shipped here and installed there. For the next couple months I will be working too much to have time to check it and I wouldn't be bringing it to the shop myself I would have a buddy take it there or probably get a tow

i was just trying to get a good enough consensus to decided whether or not to grab a turbo before taking it to the shop to keep down time to a minimum
