The Ontario HTA is as vague and retarded as the Quebec one....

    Muffler
    75. (1) Every motor vehicle or motor assisted bicycle shall be equipped with a muffler in good working order and in constant operation to prevent excessive or unusual noise and excessive smoke, and no person shall use a muffler cut-out, straight exhaust, gutted muffler, hollywood muffler, by-pass or similar device upon a motor vehicle or motor assisted bicycle. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 75 (1).
Excessive and unusual and wayyyyy subjective.

    Unnecessary noise
    (4) A person having the control or charge of a motor vehicle shall not sound any bell, horn or other signalling device so as to make an unreasonable noise, and a driver of any motor vehicle shall not permit any unreasonable amount of smoke to escape from the motor vehicle, nor shall the driver at any time cause the motor vehicle to make any unnecessary noise, but this subsection does not apply to a motor vehicle of a municipal fire department while proceeding to a fire or answering a fire alarm call. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 75 (4).
"Yo buddy your brakes are squealing and it's unecessary noise."

The "unnecessary noise" in the HTA is written so vague intentionally.
Allows the law to be applied to almost anything yet discretion is an option

Don't need a cat, and please don't put a silencer in. they look and sound terrbile.

Get a fujitsubo resonater welded inbetween where the cat would go and the bend before the exit. I had that on my old exhaust, and you couldn't even hear the car growl till 4500 rpm under load. Up untill that point it was a super clean but quiet sound.

Fujitsubo is known for having quiet systems at low rpms.

Running a 3" Apex'i catback system on my non-Skyline. Very low and subtle tone at idle, sounds sick at higher RPMs, but very quiet from inside the cabin.

If you get an Apex'i muffler, they make silencers for them.

Get an electronically controlled butterfly valve that you can close partially to cut out sound and open up straight when you want to give'r
