well look at it this way. More money usually equals better quality. its a simple "you get what you pay for" situation. If you want something cheap, buy it expecting to do a rebuild. If you have one checked out for compression and everything and pay a bit extra for it then you know its good then you know it wont need a full out rebuild.
I went cheap on my first skyline and it was just headache after headache. this time i took the time to find a stock one, have it checked out and iv had only a couple minor issues. i say save up a bit more and find a decent motor that checks out.Last edited by evolution23; 02-21-2012, 01:59 AM.1989 GTR - summer toy

"Buy cheap, you pay dear".
You'll probably find out that it has a hole in side of piston / taken out rings lands (common failure on RB25DET pistons due to knock / lack of a good ECU tune), also scored the bore which probably would result in a rebore of all cylinders (or that cylinder and a thin sleeve fitted, new stock piston, piston rings), fitting 0.5 or 1.0 oversize forged pistons. Machining, etc cost's will start to rise quickly. Best to save and find a good quality stock engine. Or find a Nissan RB30 bottomend from R31 Skyline or VL? Commodore (rebuild it) to replace the RB25DET bottomend which should give you more power, torque throughout powerband.Last edited by Skym; 02-21-2012, 04:34 PM.RESPONSE MONSTER
