  • Wastegate on rb25turbo and greddy style plenum

I have two question for anyone that could anwser. I was browsing the web to get info about rb25det turbo and I stumble upon this article.

''For the best results, transfer the wastegate actuator from your RB20 turbo onto your RB25 turbo, as it has a higher base-boost pressure than the RB25 actuator.'' I have my old rb20d turbo laying around and I was wondering if this is true and the gain you get is worth the hassle of dismanteling the wastegate. Iam far from an engine expert , what will a higher base boost pressure add to the turbo performance.

I was also looking at greddy style intake manifold for the rb25det, I know they are load of replica. I was told to get it from bings.ca but the price tag is around 500$. With other replica, you can get as low as 300$. Does anyone have good feedback about replica from ebay or other?

yes the rb20 wast gate actuator opens at 10 psi over the 25's 7 psi so you gain 3 pounds in boost pressure and like 10- 20 hp maybe if that

as for the replicas you get what you pay for support the company's that did the research and development over a company that received and duplicated using **** materials to keep cost down this is the main reason hks no longer has a us devison to many cheap copys buy a greddy and be happy with it cuz it bolts up or buy replica and fight with it cuz the bolt holes are off by 1 mm
TO GRIP OR NOT TO GRIP.... THAT IS THE QUESTION

Stock intake plenum on RB25DET is good for 500hp or maybe more, why change it??? Because of type of intercooler??? Turn flow intercooler fixes that problem (connects to stock intake piping). Intake plenum is usually upgraded to match a much bigger turbo and should be done at same time. Also will need a ECU retune to match, as those type of front facing intake plenums tend to make engine run lean on 5th, 6th cylinders.

When tested 2x RB20DET internal wastegate actuators on bench, they opened at 12psi. But when installed on RB25DET turbo, they might open at 10psi.

Thanks for the feedback. I was looking at the plenum for various reason including space saving and fuel rail swap. I know replica arnt always the good choice because they tend to do more damage in the long run but they are other compagnies that make great product without the 1200 price tag. Iam pretty sure they are alot of poeple running look alike plenum and didn't encounter problem.

For the wastegate, I have a electronic boost controller. I guess having a wastegate that open at higher psi won't change much because of the controller already inplace?
