How to check for leaks?

Hello everyone, I am trying to figure out how i can check for air /boost leaks on my 1991 r32. It just feels like its not running to its full potential. I do need to replace the MAF, Also if anyone has one or know where i can get one from to test it out. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

if you NEED to replace the maf, do that first. That will probably be your issue.

well it was giving me alot of problems at first . i would be driving and it would just randomly shut off, then it would give me continuous jolts and not actually take off. I cleaned it and opened it from the side where the plug hooks broke it off and re connected it. It seems to run fine now but i will need to replaced it once i find one in the area. I replaced the stock exhaust with a turbo back and i was expecting it to get louder and heavier but it still sounds about the same , not a noticeable difference at all. I don't really know what to look for?

A 3" exhaust from dumppipe (little piece of pipe just behind turbo) back should make boost level rise and lean out A/F ratio and engine produces 18rwkw x 1.341 = 24rwhp or so more. If replaced with 2.5" exhaust, probably get a little gain in hp. Also if have intake airleaks (usually a whistle sound if leak is after turbo) boost level, power probably will drop.

This is a full exhaust from turbo on a RB25DET (28rwkw x 1.341 = 38.5rwhp), but similar result on RB20DET with less hp -

For vacuum leaks, you can use one of those camping propane tanks turned on low and move it around vacuum lines. If you hear the revs go up that means there's a leak in that area.
