Hey guys my rb20 is occasionally running on 5 cylinders . We pulled the plugs one seemed a little dirtier so I changed the coil pack and it ran on 6... Drove it for a day then on way home from work bang started on 5 again... Sometimes it would switch back and fourth from 5-6 but now it stays on 5.... So I changed the same coil pack out with another different one and it didn't change anything... Sooo I don't no what the problem is

Coilpacks can fail due to incorrect sparkplug heatrange or sparkplug gap. If keeps happening, that's what I would check first, then igniton module via oscillioscope (ask a mobile auto electrician to check).
Also check the coilpack loom, as it's known to cause missing problems when gets older, hard (could be the pins inside the plugs). Injector loom causes similar problems. Change both (routine maintenance). Sometimes it can be faulty injector.RESPONSE MONSTER

Check the wiring to the coilpacks. If there's a bad connection then that would explain why it intermittently cut out. I had a similar problem and it ended up just being a dead wire.Looking for cheap parts? supguyex (Jon) is parting out his car. Good prices, good guy.

Re-read what you posted and realized what I posted was way opposite.
Look at my forum post on the same issue, hopefully something there will help.Last edited by krystalized_jdm; 07-24-2012, 03:06 AM.Originally posted by Robskido you really want something a guy with a Civic has?
