  • GTR cluster in GTS not working right?

It's strange I put GTR cluster into my GTS, it all clipped in perfect, no issues however SOMETIMES only the speedo won't work at all, but sometimes it does... before this cluster the speedo NEVER worked right, it was always way off, this one seems to be accurate when it does decide to work.. and I also noticed that for some reason even revving my car as high as it goes, only goes to about 5000 rpm's on the tach, anyone have any ideas of what i could check or how i can solve this problem, or what is even going on?

Thx a lot, i want to get this all rectified soon as i'm heading to the 1/4 mile track end of september

If R33, as far as I know it's electric from box to dash (speedo cable). From what I understand, there should be 2x adjusting points on circuit board (behind speedo) that allow you to raise or lower speed (or can buy a device from Jcar to adjust speed, but I think is for when fitting 320km/h speedo). 5000rpm = safety rev limiter. It can engage when there's 0km/h from dash to ECU (wiring problem on ECU plug or back of speedo or inbetween ECU, dash, which requires a wiring diagram, pinout for ECU plug to know which wires are which on ECU plug to dash).

Wiring diagram, pinouts, etc should be in the back of R33 workshop manual -

oh maybe that's all it is lol, It was just idling and i was revving, I never actually took it out for a ride it's not insured right now... haha maybe that's what it is, I was sort of thinking that but didn't think it made all that my sense but maybe it does :/ hmmm maybe nothing is broken

nope still no good, we took her out tonight finally, the engine pulls past 5000 for sure but the tach stops right at 5000, no idea what's up with this thing but going to try to take it apart here soon

Hey guys, finally had a chance to get out in the car, and as I kinda thought same thing, won't go past 5000 rpms, but the engine is still pulling past 5000 rpms you can tell, i think it got past 5000 once last night to about 5200 rpms

we took the cluster out of the car yesterday and ohmed everything it all checked out, we think it might be that motor underneath the circuit board

thing is I msged adam from feast auto and he seems to think the tach and cluster is fine and you need to do some kind of extra wiring having a gtr cluster in a gts, but i don't think it's a wiring issue because if it was wiring, it wouldn't work at all right??? i might be wrong but that would make sense to me, it works fine up until 5000 , we are going to test tonight if it's accurate when it's below 5000 but i believe it is because it idles at 650 rpm, which is normal for a gts 25det

anymore ideas guys, also if i get another gtr tach i can replace just the tach part right??
