  • Build rb25? V8 swap? Questions...

    Hey fellas
I am in need of some more power and want to do a build
Currently 492rwhp 364lbft on a stock motor. Want more low end power. 600rwhp platform

I have a few options. Want others opinions to the best direction for its purpose

Car is a daily driver 8 months of the year. Occasional track use

    Option 1

Build rb25: full Ferra head, some cams/gaskets with forged pistons, rods and all bearings. Oil/water pumps, crank collar, another fuel pump, surge tank.
Precision 6262 with two scroll manifold, intake manifold with velocity stacks
    Water/meth, 28psi

    Option 2

Intake manifold with velocity stacks, precision 6262 turbo with new intercooler plumbing. Retune for better response, spool, improve the power band

    Option 3

V8 swap. Also been doin some research about fitting a v10 viper motor into my r33. What would be needed to make this work in my car? Engine mounts and transmission adapter?

Not sure which way to go. Upgrading the turbo and manifold is a good start but I'd love to rev higher and also want big dislacent like a v8 or 10

    Any input appreciated.

Well you will have a hard time getting a v8/10 to rev higher than an rb can... Also I have never seen a v10 In a skyline although I'm sure someone somewhere has done it. Questionable whether the length would fit though that's a pretty big motor I would say an ls series is your best option for a v8. Tons of aftermarket support, and Would be more reliable than an rb as well. Nothing wrong with building your 25 but I assume your using this as a drift car? If so I would almost say go for a v8. Less headache Dow the road for a little headache while your building it.

I say v8 if you want torque.
Traction is optional, so are zipties

Forget the V10, the Viper ones are still a ton of money and the Viper truck ones are cast iron bottom ends and weigh a ton.

A GM LS1 swap would be much easier, cheaper and make 450hp and 400lbft with only a cam swap. Best part is they weigh about 50lbs less than an RB fully dressed and carry that weight a little further back in the chassis on a Skyline so its.a win-win. Hot Rod parts are dirt cheap, you can get a pair of 600hp capable heads for about half of what you would spend on an RB head. With the right cam 7000rpm is right there with still much more bottom end then you will ever have with an RB.

For max HP though its pretty hard to beat an RB, you can make 1000hp pretty easy with an LS motor too but the torque production would be too much and over power the chassis in a 2WD Skyline (think blown diffs and halfshafts every other week).

            Sorry for not specifying
Looking to build the rb to rev high. I'm an old Honda and sport bike guy, love a motor that winds up.
            No drift use, daily driver
Currently my car stomps most cars on the highway
I want low end red light to red light power

How much would am r33 owner expect to pay for a LS1 swap? Just motor?
I thin the LS3 is all aluminum and lighter.
What would an engine build on LS run? I keep reading how parts are easier and cheaper to get.
Any guys here have a link to a v8 skyline build? How would the engine management be used? Engine harnesses?

I feel like a virgin first exploring a vagina. Need the basics and the go to moves.

Can fit a custom turbocharged Nissan V8 or VG30DET in Silvia or R32, R33, R34 chassis (conversion kit) -

With turbocharged Nissan V8, produces similar rwhp to your car at only 7 psi in R32 chassis -

On dragstrip it runs 11's and last I heard it ran a 10 sec 1/4 mile -

just beating million horsepower supra ,did 11.45 personal best so far

VG30DET is alot of fun in a light rwd chassis -

Twin Turbocharged LS engine in R34 chassis -

Probably not as cheap, but keeping it in the Nissan family has been done twice from what I know of. 4.5 V8 out of the infiniti trucks into FunnyGas' sedan, and Ian Fournier put a VK56 out of a Titan in his sedan as well.

I recommend researching Ian Fourniers R32 sedan. Same power youre looking at...I think thatd be cool in an R33.
