rb25 s2 engine stutter.

have no idea what to start with untill maybe pulling everything apart this winter. buttt i'd like to make the last autocross.

just checking if anyone has had this issue.


my car runs great. starts great. good afr's. buttttt i gotta keep it under 3500rpms. if i go over it stutters and leans out and sometimes dies. actually sounds like it ticks/knocks sometimes. but it goes away in 20ish seconds. then its back to running great. just cant go over that rpm mark.


any idea's? im thinking either coilpack injector or maf.

Replace the FPR first.

Also check intake hose clamp on MAF and rubber hose behind that. When there's a leak there, MAF can get 2x sources of air and engine can stutter (similar feeling to failed coilpack when car shakes). Also check for airleak between MAF, airfilter (can make ECU hit boost / load cut earlier).

Injectors can make engine miss when leaking, but would be there all the time (idle, etc). Also can get missing when injectors loom is stuffed. Same problem with coilpack loom.

Faulty coilpack can come and go, but testing coilpacks on bench, looking for grey marks (leaking) on both side of coilpacks under mounting bracket can tell you if they are the cause.

Possible spark gap? Sounds like faulty coilpack to me man.

Spark gap is good. It ran excellent until I ripped the last corner at autocross all sideways 7000rpms and 5 dead cones later haha

Been doing this ever since. Had it towed home because I thought it WS serious.
