  • Need rb25 help asap!!!!!!

So i took my car out for a little cruise when it was nice warm and dry a couple weeks ago didnt bag on it or anything got home parked it in my garage and left it there till the next weekend and it was nice again so i decided to take it for one last cruise before putting it away for the winter. I hop in it fire it up no issues started like normal i back out of the garage and start driving up the street and it had no power at all and the turbo was just screaming makin 16psi but i was at around 1800rpm going around 10km/h so i instantly thought my timing was out but dont know how it happend considering it ran 100% the weekend before so i turned around and went back to the garage and it kept losing power to the point where it barely crawled into my garage and it was back firing and popping like crazy. I popped the hood and started checking connections and everything else and i noticed i could hear it spooling just idleing in the garage and then it died and it wont restart i tore it down and the exhaust timing mark was one tooth out. It makes no sense cause i jus did the 100,000km service in april before it came out for the summer with GReddy timing belt, oem tensioner and idler ect and it ran great all summer with no issues. I completely tore it down and redid the timing triple checked it put it back together but it still wont start, im lost and have no idea what to do next. Maybe someone has had this happen or has some insight on my issues. The car is a 1994 r33

thanks in advance for any help or info

If slipped a tooth, are you sure valves haven't hit top of one of the pistons???? Can check via bore scope on each cylinder to see if valves have hit top of piston.

Cambelt stretches a bit, so correct tension is critical when fitting new cambelt.

Have you reset CAS properly via timing light and checked for CAS error code on ECU???

Engine usually won't start due to internal problem, cam timing problem, CAS timing is incorrect or CAS is faulty.

In somecases there's a intake airleak behind MAF causing stuttering, stalling.

Also check for leaking headgasket externally (overflow bottle being brown instead of green, milky look to dipstick, etc) and via compression test, leak down test (valve leak, piston ring leak, etc).

I havent checked for codes yet im gunna swap the cas to one from my buddys car and try that out then next is compression test. Theres no way its a headgasket cause it was done 8 months ago with a mls one and arp headstuds

Did it still make boost on the way home? Check intercooler piping it's a long shot since the problem probably has to do with the timing mark being out, but its worth a shot!

oh ya it made so much boost it made my tru boosts overboost alarm go off. I checked everything for boost leaks and there is none anywhere.

no spark is a fugde cas or igniter but if series 2 you dont have an igniter co your cas is pooched find tdc on cyl#1 make shure all your marks line up on cam gears to make shure it hasnt skiped a tooth replace cas should be ok after that
TO GRIP OR NOT TO GRIP.... THAT IS THE QUESTION

so i changed the cas and still have no spark so im gunna get a different ignitor and if that doesnt work then do i change ecu?

did you check for spark the right way? pull the plugs then set them into the coilpacks with everything hooked up. then ground one plug at a time outside of engine back to battery with a wire. then turn the cas or crank the engine with cas bolted to cam and look for spark.

Yes i checked for spark that way and had nothing. I tested the ignitor like the fsm says too and have no resistance on the output side
