Hey guys, so I've recently received my Vibrant performance pit packs and im curious as to how big a job it would be to remove all the 20 year old hoses myself, or just pay a private shop to do it ( DNA) in victoria...If you guys don't think it's a massive undertaking then i'll give it a go, but if getting under the plenum is impossible and i could wreck other stuff then i'd rather just pay for a clean job.. Also, is silicone lube advised? i heard it can do serious damage to electrical components specifically the O2 sensor if you get it on said sensor(s)..?

If intake piping hoses it's easy to replace hoses. If under intake plenum it's harder to get at and usually done when intake plenum is removed. You could do it with intake plenum in place, but getting to coolant hoses under intake plenum from under car would be tricky.

You sure the hoses are coolant compatible????

Gates hose probably would be better and flame proof. Or Nissan hoses that are moulded to correct shape. Samco make high quality silicon coolant hose kits as well for RB engines.

Not sure on the lube, but I know a mechanic mate uses a spary lube before fitting hoses (slips on). It dries with no residue, so doesn't seem to be silicon based.

Thanks for the reply skym! oh the brand is pretty reputable and i know my aunt who works at HPA motorsports says thats the brand they use...As for the coolant, i'd have to double check, you may be right about that. And yea i was curious if it's really difficult to remove the intake plenum...

It's a big job to remove intake plenum, as I think some bolts (joins both halfs of intake plenum) face the ground and are hard to get at. Also have to check flange on head side and probably skim flange (same thing you do with exhaust manifold).

Probably easier to dump coolant, remove radiator hoses, unplug loom from engine, remove main driveshaft, sensors, speedo cable, etc and remove engine, gearbox as one. Good time to replace rear crank oil seal (known to leak) while it's out.
